A second rotary device may rotate the applicator member and the first rotary device around a second axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis. As an alternative to two sheath films, a single film may be used, whereby compressing surrounds the stent assembly with the single sheath film. Also disclosed is an apparatus for sheathing a stent.

    Abstract: An air inversion and steam cure apparatus for installing a flexible resin impregnated cured in place liner in an existing conduit is provided. The apparatus has a low friction seal between a moving liner and the stationary apparatus gland. The gland is operated and adjusted by displaceable members that move substantially perpendicular to the liner being inverted to engage the moving liner as it passes through the gland. No part of the gland extends into the chamber so that once a pre-shaped gland is adjusted, the pressure on the moving liner is not increased. As the liner reaches the distal end, it enters a sample and porting pipe with an exhaust pipe gland and exhaust pipe and is pierced by a rigid porting tool. Steam is then introduced into the liner to cure the resin and is exhausted through an exhaust hose connected to the porting tool. After cure, steam is replaced with air to cool the liner and the ends are cut to restore service through the existing conduit.

A motor for driving the mandrel may be reversed at a slower speed than the forward speed to stop delivery of aggregate and to allow time for the upper end of the cylinder of mesh material to be severed and secured to the pipe to form a drainage element as well as to allow severance of the pipe. In another embodiment, the perforated pipe is driven through the hopper and the aggregate flows under gravity into the mesh sleeve.

    Abstract: A process of weaaving metal conductor wires to form a metal woven shielding conductor layer over the outer surface of an insulated cable. The insulated cable is accompanied with at least one solder or tin wire. When the at least one solder or tin wire is immersed in a molten metal plating solution, it melts down hence generating a spatial margin between the insulated cable and the metal woven shielding conductor layer. This prevents the insulated cable from biting with its outer surface into the metal woven shielding conductor layer when it is thermally expanded in the molten metal plating solution. As the metal woven shielding conductor layer is impregnated deeply with the molten metal, there are hardly any generated gaps and undulation on the surface of the metal plating layer. Accordingly the suppression of reflection and attenuation of a transmission signal will be improved.

The method effectively grounds the composite as well as the reinforcement to prevent electrical discharge during EBP.

    Abstract: A radiating cable comprises a core having a center conductor bonded to, centered in, and supported by discs of dielectric material. A sleeve of dielectric material is extruded over the discs and thereby bonded thereto to form a plurality of sealed, coaxial, dielectric chambers. A tubular outer conductor is bonded in concentric relation to the sleeve. In a continuous process, at least one slot is formed in the outer conductor by a cutting operation and an outer jacket is extruded over the outer conductor. In a preferred embodiment, the outer conductor is made of an aluminum tube and two circumferentially equally spaced slots are formed therein by removing between 10 and 35% of the aluminum material. The width of the resulting slots may be configured so that a joint is formed in the slot between the insulating sleeve and the outer jacket, thus obviating the use of adhesive in bonding the outer jacket to the cable.

    Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus employing stepped overlap apertures disposed in adjacent overlap rings. The rings are arranged so that the diameters of the stepped apertures are sequentially decreasing. The apertures form a generally flat advancing metal tape into a cylindrical tube having overlapped edges. Typically, the cylindrical tube is used as a metal guard about a cable core. Each aperture is generally circular but one quadrant of the circle contains a step whereby the diameter of the aperture increases. The final tubular configuration of generally circular cross-section of the metal tape about the cable core is developed in the final smaller diameter overlap rings which bring together the two overlapped metal edges of the metal tape. Then, the metal tape passes to finishing rings which press the two engaged overlapped edges so that these edges now stay together as a longitudinal overlapped seam.

    Abstract: Conventionally co-axial cable is made in a continuous extrusion machine by continuously extruding an aluminium tubular cladding (1) through an annular die and simultaneously continuously introducing a core (4), comprised of a conductive wire surrounded by insulation, through an bore in a mandrel (3). A gap is inevitably present between the outer surface of the core (4) and the tubular cladding (1). To eliminate the gap it is necessary to reduce the diameter of the tubular cladding by swagging or drawing step by compacting the insulation of the core before introduction to the mandrel (3). The insulation then gradually expands to recover its original diameter and fill the cladding which has been extruded to its final diameter.

    Abstract: A method and means for producing disks of tightly packed on-end aligned fibers wherein side-by-side filament tows are surrounded and pulled by a Chinese-finger type gripper sleeve which tightens about the tows and compacts the filaments as it is pulled.
