Abstract: Rotary drill bits may include on or more cutting element assemblies which include a cutter and a mounting system. In one embodiment, the mounting system includes a housing, a first bearing component disposed within the housing, and a second bearing component associated with the cutting element. In certain embodiments, the bearing components may comprise a table of superhard material bonded with a substrate. In one or more embodiments, the bearing components may include bearing surfaces that are arcuate. For example, the bearing surfaces may be substantially spherical (a portion of a sphere). The bearing components may be arranged to act as a radial bearing as well as a thrust bearing for the cutting element, enabling the cutting element to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the cutter, relative to the housing, while also enabling the longitudinal axis of the cutter to be displaced (change angles) relative to the housing.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for the chip-removing generation or machining of internal gear teeth on a workpiece which is rotatable about its rotary axis and radially delimits a free space that extends axially to one side beyond the internally toothed region and whose radial width narrows in the direction of its axial extension in at least one location. An externally toothed tool which is driven in rotary movement about its axis of rotation is brought from the opposite side into rolling engagement with the internally toothed region with the rotary axes crossed at an angle. Through the application of a mechanical force, the chips which are produced in the process and which are subject to a centrifugal force are caused to change their movement in the zone of narrowing width in a manner directed against the origin of the centrifugal force.

Abstract: A chain for a work implement has lateral connecting members connected to central driving members via studs. The stud has two lateral portions spaced apart from one another by a collar. A driving member is mounted pivotably on the collar. At the collar the stud has a surface layer harder than the base material. For a high chain service life, the stud has a diffusion layer above a surface layer above the base material. To produce the stud, the stud is provided with a diffusion layer at least at the collar, and a surface region of the collar is hardened, such that a surface layer is formed between the diffusion layer and the base material of the stud. For a method for producing a driving member, the driving member is provided with a diffusion layer at least at a circumferential surface of a hole and the driving member is hardened.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods and systems for nano/micro machining. A lathe head has a microscopic pivot aperture for seating a conical tip. The conical tip is carried on a turnable part at one end thereof and is polished down to a microscopic apex. The microscopic pivot aperture is dimensioned for seating the concentric tip in the pivot aperture such that an apex of the conical tip protrudes through and beyond the aperture to a position in close proximity with the aperture. A driver system can comprise a rotator for axially rotating the turnable part, including the conical tip seated in the pivot aperture, and a forward pressure applicator for concurrently applying forward pressure to the conical tip in the direction of the pivot aperture. A light/particle beam system can be utilized to machine the rotating conical tip and the rotating turnable part, including the tip, can be easily removed after machining.
Abstract: An actuator has a rotary drive and a threaded element for converting the rotary motion of the rotary drive into a reciprocating motion of a tappet connected to a hinged wastegate and/or to a variable turbine geometry device of an exhaust gas turbocharger. The tappet and/or an axle between the tappet and the threaded element is received in at least one guide comprising at least one web and allowing for at least a slight tilting or pivoting movement of the tappet in at least one direction. At least some play is present between the web and at least one broadened portion on the tappet and/or on the axle. Methods of actuating a wastegate and/or a variable turbine geometry device.

Related interchangeable tool sets are also provided.
Abstract: Provided is a tool for polishing the surface of frets, a fretboard or a fingerboard of a stringed instrument, so as to shape and adjust the frets, the fretboard or the fingerboard to have a curve appropriate for the stringed instrument having a curve.
Abstract: A lawn mower blade sharpener and a method of sharpening a lawn mower blade attached to a lawn mower. The lawn mower blade sharpener includes a body having an opening that is disposed within the body along the length of the body, and a file within the opening, wherein the file includes a first file having an arcuate surface and a second file having a flat surface.
Abstract: An apparatus for use in the production of a test specimen bottle from a container which is adaptable for containing a liquid and has a sealing surface intended for mating with a sealing closure. The test specimen bottle is utilized in a test for evaluating the integrity of a sealing closure. The apparatus comprises a scoring head which has a body and at least one blade mounted to the body. The body includes mounting structure associated with the body for connecting the body to a force applying mechanism for transmitting force to the body so that when the blade mounted to the body is positioned adjacent to the sealing surface of the container, a force can be applied to the body that causes the blade to score the sealing surface to thereby produce a test specimen bottle from the container.
Abstract: An edge-machining device in particular plastic spectacle lenses (L) has two aligned holding shafts (14, 16) rotatable with a controlled angle of rotation (?B) about a rotational axis of a workpiece (B) between which the lens may be clamped and a tool spindle (12) rotationally drives a combination tool (10) about a rotational axis of a tool (C) running parallel to the rotational axis of the workpiece. The holding shafts and the tool spindle may be moved with position control towards each other in a first axial direction (X) and optionally parallel to each other in a second axial directions (Z) perpendicular to the first axial direction. The combination tool can be swivelled with a controlled angle of rotation (?C) about the rotational axis of the tool by means of the tool spindle so that a lathe tool (36) provided on the combination tool may be brought into a defined lathe machining engagement with the edge of the lens.
