Handle To Container Patents (Class 29/774)
  • Patent number: 10246208
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to an apparatus and method for high speed automated installation or attachment of preformed handles onto portable containers such as buckets, boxes, cartons, or pails that are moving on a conveyor system through the apparatus. A frame structure supports the apparatus. A container conveyor conveys the portable containers into and out of the apparatus. A handle sheet conveyor conveys sheets of preformed handles from storage containers into a handle magazine. Individual handles are detached from the preformed handle sheets, after which the handles are attached onto the portable containers at a high rate of speed. A slidable handle separation and insertion mechanism includes a main slide for preforming the handles prior to insertion onto the portable containers. In some embodiments the main slide is angled at approximately a 45 degree angle from the horizontal.

  • Patent number: 6536102
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for attaching to an object a substantially flat carrier strap which is intended to engage by means of locking members arranged on each end into an elongate slot in the object, wherein the slots are arranged substantially mutually in line in the object and wherein the apparatus comprises: engaging means for engaging a straightened carrier strap in the proximity of both ends; first rotation means for causing the engaging means to rotate into a position in which the ends of the carrier strap are directed substantially vertically; second rotation means for causing the engaging means to rotate into a position in which the ends of the carrier strap lie substantially in the same plane; and translation means for causing the ends of the strap to each move downward in substantially vertical direction into the slot to a depth such that the locking members grip in the slot.

  • Patent number: 6195960
Abstract: A device for placing pipes (5′) into a case (1) and taking pipes (5) out therefrom, wherein the pipes (5) are placed in stacks (2, 3, 4) each with one pipe across, and wherein the stacks are supported laterally by supports (6, 7, 8, 9) projecting upwardly from the bottom of the case (1). The bottom of the case 91) is provided with apertures (10, 11), and the case (1) is carried by a tilting device (13) capable of raising and lowering the case 91), respectively, and of turning it about an axis (14) parallel to the pipes (5) within the case (1), to take an unloading position and a loading position, respectively, wherein the supports (6, 7, 8, 9) are nearly horizontal, flushing with a substantially horizontal support for pipes (5), and wherein a pushing device (16) is adapted to be guided through the apertures (10, 11) in the nearly vertical bottom of the case (1), in order to push pipes (5) laterally out of the case (1), upon said support, which may be a conveyor belt or another conveyor (12).

  • Patent number: 5768767
Abstract: A handle applicator for applying a handle having an attachment ring onto a neck of a container by expanding the ring as the ring is being applied. The applicator includes a plurality of circumferentially positioned arms each having a distal end. The arms are moveable between a radially outward first position and a radially inward second position. In the second position, the arms generally define a diameter over which the ring can be positioned onto the arms. The arms also each include a ramp surface and these surfaces cooperate to define a frusto-conical shape when the arms are in the first position. The applicator also includes a plurality of fingers that are generally located radially outward from the arms and which are being biased such that arm contacting portions of the fingers contact the arms. The fingers are movable toward and away from the distal ends of the arms so that the arm contacting portions will engage and push a ring located on the arms up the ramp surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5596801
Abstract: An apparatus and method for attaching inconsistent length plastic handles to a container. The apparatus comprises a mandrel having a bottom diameter less than that of the container and a top diameter greater than that of the container. The container rests on the mandrel until uneven forces are applied by attachment of a handle having unequal length sides, at which time the shorter arm of the handle engages the container first, causing the corresponding sides of the container to slide upwardly on the mandrel and the opposite side to slide downwardly. The downward sliding places the corresponding receptacle closer to the longer arm of the handle facilitating engagement. A die having a body and an arcuate shaped handle forming area adjacent a recess in the body delivers the handle to the container. The recess also includes end portions tapered in the direction of the arcuate bend of the handle forming area.
