Publication number: 20100075569Abstract: A doll arranged to depict a person realistically. A first image of a person such as a photograph is ultimately transferred to a flexible substrate such as a fabric sheet. The substrate is cut or trimmed generally to configuration of a human body. The substrate is joined to a corresponding rear substrate, thereby forming an outer shell having an open interior. The interior may be stuffed with soft material. The outer shell is then sealed to preclude escape of stuffing material. Optionally, the rear substrate may bear a second image such as that of the rear of the person furnishing the first image. The doll may range in size from very small to full body dimensions or may be even larger.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2009Publication date: March 25, 2010Inventor: Peter A. Carnegie

Patent number: 4957786Abstract: A method of making a doll includes the steps of forming a skirt portion from a substantially circular, flat, formable sheet by cutting three closely spaced substantially parallel radially extending slits in the sheet, forming the main portion of the sheet into a substantially conical configuration, and bending the elongated strips defined by the slits outwardly in opposite directions so that the main portion of the sheet and the bases of the strips define an aperture in the skirt portion. The method further includes the steps of forming a character figure portion including head, neck and body portions, and assembling the character figure portion with the skirt portion so that the body portion is received in the interior of the conical skirt portion and so that the neck portion extends through the aperture in the skirt portion to position the head portion above the skirt portion.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1990Date of Patent: September 18, 1990Inventor: Lorraine Barboza

Patent number: 4277300Abstract: A squeeze toy of air-filled elastomer material including a whistle, and a method and apparatus for forming the same. A small cavity or depression is molded into the body of the toy to form the whistle site. A small cap, which may comprise a flat or slightly rounded disk, or a small hollow cylinder, closes the small cavity or depression forming the whistle site. A pair of small openings are formed in centered, aligned relation in the cap and in the bottom of the cavity, completing the whistle. The body of the toy is preferably formed by blow molding techniques, using the opening in the bottom of the cavity corresponding to the whistle hole to blow air in during the molding process, and to blow the finished part out of the mold. The whistle cap may either be made simultaneously with the body, by blow molding, or by separate injection molding techniques.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1978Date of Patent: July 7, 1981Inventors: Anthony P.
