Patent number: 7827662Abstract: A device of a descaler head is described with circumferentially following and longitudinally following rows of descaler parts (22, 24, 26) where the descaler head comprises: a shaft (12) onto which are fed a number of holding elements for the descaler parts (22, 24, 26), said holding bodies are held together in axial direction with the help of adjustable gripping appliances on the carrier shaft, and each descaler part is connected to associated holding bodies via connecting means that are each in the form of a relatively short length of chain, piece of wire or similar flexible connecting means, at a distance from the rotational axis of the descaler head.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2004Date of Patent: November 9, 2010Assignee: Dalseide & Co.Inventor: BjØrn Ove Dalseide

Publication number: 20100218354Abstract: A tool for removing slag from a flame-cut edge of metal includes a downwardly facing cup containing a plurality of steel balls. Only a portion of each ball extends from the lower end of the cup. A radially outer wall of the cup slants from a first position at its upper end to a second radially outer position at its lower end. As a result, when the cup rotates, centrifugal force urges the balls downwardly with a force that is proportional to the speed of rotation. As the cup moves over slag, lateral impact from the balls remove the slag. Because the balls are not connected to surrounding structure, they are free to rapidly move upwardly in the cup in response to hitting the edge of the cut. Consequently neither the edge nor the surface of the metal is peened or otherwise marred or disfigured.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2009Publication date: September 2, 2010Inventor: Gregory E. Publication number: 20080189923Abstract: According to the invention, a method is used for surface treatment of objects (7), wherein wire rollers (15) are caused to contact the object (7) to exert a blow or hammer impact, which wire rollers (15) partly rotate (8), partly revolve (12), partly move (14) transversely to the object (7) on the belt (11). This ensures an effective and completely uniform treatment (knocking-off, cleaning) of surface coatings, including oxide layers, by a non-abrasive or non-cutting treatment, but solely an impact stress. A rotating wire roller (15) may advantageously be used, which roller is composed of wire elements (1, 2, 3) mounted on stays (4) so that they may bounce slightly rearwards (9) at impact, and otherwise remain in the same position by means of the centrifugal force and the engagement of the wire end with an adjacent stay (4).Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2006Publication date: August 14, 2008Applicant: HH PATENT A/SInventor: Keld Hundebol

Patent number: 6481075Abstract: A peeling machine through which a rod workpiece is moved along a workpiece axis has upstream and downstream guides centering the workpiece on the axis is and axially flanking a rotary scraper engaging the workpiece and carried on an upstream end of a scraper tube coaxially surrounding the downstream guide and rotatable about the workpiece axis. The downstream guide has a stationary tubular housing extending coaxially in the rotatable scraper tube, a plurality of shafts pivotal in the tubular housing about respective guide axes angularly spaced about the workpiece axis, and respective axially elongated guide bars fixed on the shafts, extending axially therealong generally a full length of the scraper tube, and projecting radially of the guide axes therefrom. Guide elements—rollers or blocks—carried on the bars are engageable radially of the workpiece axis with the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2000Date of Patent: November 19, 2002Assignee: SMS Eumuco GmbHInventor: Friedrich Heider

Patent number: 6385832Abstract: A descaling device for hydromechanically descaling metal strip has a descaling spray arrangement with first and second spray nozzles arranged adjacent to one another in first and second spray nozzle rows transverse to the transport direction with several first and second spray nozzle rows successively arranged in the transport direction above a top side and underneath a bottom side of the metal strip. The first and second spray nozzles spray a high pressure water jet onto the top and bottom sides. First catch troughs are correlated with the first spray nozzles and catch water of the high pressure water jets of the first spray nozzles. The first spray nozzle rows together with the first catch troughs are pivotable about a pivot axis and vertically adjustable relative to the top side by a signal from a measuring device.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: SMS Schloemann-Siemag AktiengesellschaftInventors: Horst Grafe, Barbara Ladda-Zunk, Karl-Friedrich Fuhrmann

Patent number: 6375397Abstract: A deburrer machine for cutting burrs (2), which consists out of a rotating deburring body (3) and travelling carriage (6) is foreseen for application especially on longitudinally cut slabs in flow. For deburring the deburring pistons (4) perform a rotary movement around the deburring body axis (21), whereby they approach to the cutting burr (2) from the workpiece side. Therefore the rotation axis is arranged in a way that the deburring pistons (4) turn below the lower workpiece surface outside the workpiece (1) after having finished the deburring procedure in order to lift again against this lower surface. Inside the deburring body (3) is placed a pressure chamber (18) which effects the lifting of the deburring pistons (4). Thereby the air contained in the lower piston guidance (12) is displaced and then the throttled air is led-off via bores in the lower part of the deburring piston (4) in order to dampen the piston movement.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1999Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Gega CorporationInventor: Horst K.
