Abstract: A vending machine cabinet is retained in a closed position by a hook that is engaged by a vertically moveable latch bar that can be latched closed without requiring a solenoid. The latch bar is moved by means of a cam attached to one of the hooks. Prior to engaging the hook, an angled surface of the cam engages a surface defined by the opening in the latch bar. As the door is closed, the cam rotates through an angle thereby lifting the latch bar until the upwardly extending finger of the hook can move through the opening of the latch bar. When the door is fully closed, the surface of the cam is moved from beneath the edge of the opening in the latch bar thereby allowing the latch bar to drop behind the hook, latching the door closed.

  • Patent number: 6422613
Abstract: The present invention relates to a gate latch comprising an integrated latch/handle assembly, a mounting bracket, a return spring and a flat head shoulder bolt. The integrated latch/handle assembly is a flat bar section comprised of various radiused and right angled bends allowing the assembly to wrap around the leading edge of the fence gate with one of the bends forming the actual latch bolt. The ends of the assembly are bent to form handles which operate the mechanism, the handles having radiused ends. The mounting bracket is a flat steel bar section with two holes provided for attaching the bracket to the gate. The return spring is held in place by the shoulder bolt which attaches the handle assembly, mounting bracket and spring firmly together.

  • Patent number: 6328354
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a door lock for an automobile vehicle, including a lock casing with at least two compartments, the first being a retention compartment containing retention parts, such as a latch bolt intended to engage and hold a striker, and a pawl intended to block the latch bolt in its striker holding position, and the second being a kinematic compartment containing parts used to control the inside and outside opening and locking/unlocking of the lock, the compartments providing, for the retention and control parts, mounting planes parallel to the transverse vertical plane of the vehicle, said retention compartment including a striker slot opening in the transverse direction and receiving a striker during door closing, wherein said casing has a plane of symmetry parallel to the longitudinal vertical plane or to the longitudinal horizontal plane of the vehicle, to enable use of the same casing for either a left door or a right door.

  • Patent number: 6182482
Abstract: A locking mechanism of the barb type is provided for releasably locking two elements together. One of the elements has two pairs of opposed barbs or hook type resilient members. The barbs or hooks of each pair facing each other and being spaced apart. The other element has a pair of opposed, spaced ledges with downwardly facing surfaces engageable, in a locking relationship, with the barbs. An appropriate size opening is provided in the first element above the opposed pairs of barbs. The opening is a round central portion and a pair of side lobes coextensive with the opposed pairs of barbs. A separate key having a central rotational axis is provided. The key has a handle, an intermediate round portion connected to a working end portion, and generally oval in shape or cross section. The key is insertable in the opening such that the narrow part of the oval portion rests between the pairs of opposed barbs.

  • Patent number: 5662368
Abstract: The present invention provides a second lock mechanism (5) which interlocks a seat (1) with a rotating member (45) and renders the rotating member (45) non-rotatable with respect to the seat (1), and when the seat (1) is reclined the first lock mechanism (5) and the vehicle floor (2) are interlocked and rotation of the rotating member (45) with respect to the seat (1) is regulated, while when in a folded-up state, rotation of the seat (1) with respect to the vehicle floor (2) by an axle mechanism (44) is regulated by rotation control of the rotating member (45) with respect to the seat (1) by means of the interlocking of the second lock mechanism (5) and the seat (1), via a linkage mechanism (49), thus achieving a significant improvement in the usability of an automobile seat when adjusting it to a seating position or a folded-up position.
