The piston has wedge shaped components on either end which interact with four locking arms. The security door replacement also includes a pinion gear connected to the door's doorknob which interacts with a rack gear integral to the central piston such that turning the doorknob causes the pinion gear to turn resulting in movement of the piston. This piston movement causes the locking arms to alternatively extend through and withdraw from the door frame and supporting structure thereby locking and unlocking the door.

    Abstract: The assembly has an auxiliary bolt which is pivotably mounted in a housing. The bolt is captively journalled by a removable bracket which has a pair of recesses on opposite sides thereof. A shaft integral with the bolt sets in one pair of the recesses, to effect one handed operation of the assembly, and with optional setting of the shaft in the other pair of recesses, the assembly is oppositely handed. The assembly is simply bolted to a faceplate; consequently, by removing such bolts, and removing the bracket, the bolt can be replaced or reversed in its handed disposition. An override spring is provided to protect the assembly from damage, in the event that the associated flushbolt fails to enter the strike or recess provided therefor; the spring allows the auxiliary bolt to fully retract, even through the flushbolt translation is inadequate.

The door lock structure comprises an elongated locking rod supportingly guided in the longitudinal cavity. The rod is normally biased in a retracted position in the cavity, with the rod locking free end disposed inwardly of the horizontal door edge. An external rod displacement element is secured to the rod for displacing the rod and the locking free end outwardly of the horizontal door edge to a locking position. A bolt engaging mechanism is disposed inwardly of the door edge adjacent the rod for engaging the rod when placed in its locking position. A key-operated cam is provided on an inside surface of the door vertical free edge portion for disengaging the rod engaging mechanism from engagement with the rod.

    Abstract: A security transfer unit has a cashier's door and a customer's door for providing access to an intermediate transfer chamber from opposite sides of a security screen. Only one of the doors can be opened to give access to the chamber at a time, opening of the cashier's door being normally obstructed by a pivotted bar that is swung down across the door to engage a bracket. Swinging of the bar up to remove the obstruction turns a shaft to block, via a cam, withdrawal of catch-bolts which hold the customer's door closed. The cam in this condition also abuts a block mounted on the rear edge of the door such that if the customer's door is open as the bar is swung up it will be forced closed before the cashier's door can be opened.

    Abstract: A door closure apparatus is provided for automatically closing a bifold door of a storage cabinet for combustible materials in the event of elevated temperatures. A guide assembly hingedly mounted on the free end of the folding door includes guide fingers which ride along a guide path in a channel guide track at the top of the cabinet. At one end of the track there is mounted a bracket slidably carrying a latch member movable between a latching condition in the guide path and a release condition out of the guide path. The latch member is normally held in its latching condition by a spring and fusible link combination which override a smaller spring urging the latch member toward its release condition. Upon melting of the fusible link the latch member is moved to its release condition by the smaller spring. The latch member is shaped to permit the guide member to cam past it as the door moves to its open position but prevents return movement of the guide member to hold the door in its open position.

    Abstract: In the embodiment shown is a handle to be mounted on a door stile, wherein the handle houses a latch plate, a bowed leaf spring interlocked with the latch plate, and a cam bar for moving the latch plate from one to the other of two positions, the cam bar being of such a length that one end thereof extends beyond one end of the handle when in one position and the other end thereof extends beyond the other end of the handle when in its other position. In both positions of the latch plate, its face is in a plane parallel to and confronts the stile. The latch plate has portions at one edge engaging an inner wall of the housing formed by the handle, and an elongated portion extending from such one edge passes through an opening in the wall and has a lip for latching to a jamb. When the door is closed, the cam bar in one position overcomes the spring to force the latch plate away from the jamb, and in the other position to permit the spring to position the latch plate wherein the lip thereof latches to the jamb.

A first lever of each secondary latch mechanism is rotatable to engage and move the associated latch member to a latched position in latching engagement with the closed compartment panel to provide the assist to the primary latch mechanism in holding the panel closed. A separate elongated cable associated with each secondary latch mechanism extends between the associated first lever and a common second lever pivotally mounted on the vehicle adjacent the energy absorbing bumper.
