Patent number: 5174091Abstract: A clip is provided to be attached to a grille member, such as a decorative grille for a window, which is used to detachably secure the grille member to a frame or sash. The clip is secured in a cavity found at the end of the grille member by teeth which extend from the stem of the clip. The clip has a base which is connected to the stem of the clip at an oblique angle. The clip has a head portion which comprises two overlapping arcuate members which, when the grille member is in place, are flexibly biased against the frame or sash in order to detachably secure the grille member.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1991Date of Patent: December 29, 1992Assignee: Mason Windows LimitedInventor: Gary Stokx

Patent number: 5042855Abstract: A latch for slidable window panels of a vehicle. The latch includes a rotatable handle carried by one window panel and a cam part carried by the other window panel. The handle engages the cam part as the handle is rotated to draw the slidable window panels together. The handle defines a narrowing channel which engages the cam part as the window handle is rotated from an open position to a locked position. The narrowing channel, formed by a thickening outer side wall of the handle, draws the cam and its connected window toward the handle. Detents are provided to impart a positive snap feel to the handle when rotated into either its opened or closed positions.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1990Date of Patent: August 27, 1991Assignee: Excel Industries, Inc.Inventors: Bruce A. Bennett, Raymond S. Butler, Todd E. Cripe

Patent number: 4973092Abstract: A rotatable knob mounted at one side of an opening to a container has formed on the underside thereof a recess and a channel extending therefrom through the periphery of the knob. Opposite the knob on the other side of the container opening is secured a clasp. When the knob is rotated into its open position with the catch channel directed toward the catch, closure of the opposite sides of the container opening moves the catch through the catch channel to the recess on the underside of the knob. Thereafter, rotation of the knob in either direction out of its open position, captures the catch in the recess on the underside of the knob. Release of the catch is accomplished by rotating the knob back to its open position. In an alternative embodiment, the catch channel terminates short of the periphery of the knob, but a portion of the knob extends beyond the edge of the container opening.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1989Date of Patent: November 27, 1990Inventors: Anthony L. Patent number: 4756122Abstract: A removable window bar for mounting inside a window structure, which window bar is characterized by a parallel top and bottom bar and crossbar, spaced by vertical bars. The bottom bar is removably seated in a pair of bar seats fastened in oppositely disposed relationship to the window facing. A pair of latch stays are also mounted in the window facing above and in spaced relationship with respect to the bar seats, respectively, and a rotatable latch is provided on each of the extending ends of the top bar, which latch is designed to removably engage the latch stay on each window facing and removably secure the removable window bar in position in the window. Rotational manipulation of each latch facilitates removal of the latch from the companion latch stay and lifting of the removably window bar from the bar seats, in order to remove the removable window bar from the window.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1987Date of Patent: July 12, 1988Inventor: Charles J. Snapka

Patent number: 4389062Abstract: A rotary latch having drive means rotatably mounted in a housing, said dr means having a semi-circular hooked-shaped latch arm thereon. A cover is attached to said housing and an axially mounted, spring-biased shaft is concentrically mounted within said drive means and has locking lugs engageable with said drive means and said cover. In one axial position of said center shaft, said drive means is locked against rotation and, in another axial position, the drive means is unlocked and free to rotate. A stop is provided on said drive means and is engageable with said housing to limit rotation of latch arm.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1980Date of Patent: June 21, 1983Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventor: Kenneth W. Patent number: 4295674Abstract: A latch mechanism is disclosed which includes a housing in which a rotor assembly is rotatably journalled within the housing and rotatable between fully locked and unlocked positions. The rotor assembly is provided with a movable member or latching surface for latching to an eyebolt or the like. An indicator flag is slidably mounted in the rotor assembly and is restricted to common rotation with the rotor assembly. The flag is slidably movable between an extended position wherein a portion of the flag extends out of the rotor assembly and a recess position where the flag is not visible externally of the rotor assembly. The flag is biased to the extended position so that it remains extended and visible until the rotor assembly is moved to a fully locked position. The flag remains in the recessed position only when the rotor assembly is in the fully locked position.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1979Date of Patent: October 20, 1981Assignee: Avibank Mfg., Inc.Inventor: John A. Duran

Patent number: 4155575Abstract: A rotary latch including a manually rotatable drive means having a semi-circular hooked shaped latch arm increasing in radial width to compensate for the position of a keeper when engaged thereby, the drive means fitted with an axially movable shaft having a splined surface, engagable with a fixed splined surface to lock the latch arm in engagement with the keeper in such a manner as to eliminate free play; the shaft having an inner position to permit engagement with the drive member, a position flush with the drive member when the latch arm and keeper are interlocked and an extended signal position when the latch arm and keeper are disengaged.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1977Date of Patent: May 22, 1979Assignee: Hartwell CorporationInventor: L.
