Patent number: 8960734Abstract: A latch which for example may secure a closure to an associated receptacle. The latch may comprise a collar which entraps the enlarged head of a large headed object. The collar may have a series of passages formed therein, each of which receives a spherical object such as a ball bearing. The latch may comprise a pushbutton having an annular body bearing a first portion which prevents the ball bearings from moving, and a second portion which gives each ball bearing space to occupy. The ball bearings normally interfere with the enlarged head and entrap the same within the collar. When the pushbutton is depressed, the second portion allows the ball bearings to move out of the interference position, thereby enabling the enlarged head to escape from the collar. Motion of the pushbutton also provides actuating force for moving the ball bearings.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2012Date of Patent: February 24, 2015Inventor: Robert Camp

Patent number: 8333412Abstract: A locker has a latch bar attached to the inside surface of door by projections that extend through respective slots in the bar. The slots are configured to permit the bar to move parallel to the door between an extended position and a retracted position, the extended position being horizontally offset from the retracted position. An actuator plate is positioned between the inside surface of the door and the latch bar and is connected to a handle on the outside surface of the door. The at least one pair of spaced rollers is provided on the actuator plate. A diagonal rib is attached to the latch bar for each pair of rollers. Each diagonal rib is positioned between a respective pair of spaced apart rollers, such that when the handle and actuator plate are moved vertically, each pair of rollers will move along the diagonal rib positioned between that pair of rollers causing the latch bar to move horizontally.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2009Date of Patent: December 18, 2012Assignee: Scranton Products Inc.Inventor: Steven W. Patent number: 8322759Abstract: In a pod used in an FIMS system, an engaged portion is provided on the outer surface of the lid of a pod. A through hole is provided in a flange portion that is provided around the pod opening and in which the lid is to be received. The through-hole allows access to the engaged portion from the external space. A latch mechanism is supported on the pod body side surface of the flange portion in such a way that it can slide in a direction parallel to the side wall of the flange. The engagement portion of the latch mechanism reaches the engaged portion through the aforementioned through-hole. Movement of the latch mechanism brings the engagement portion into an engaging state and a disengaged state.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2009Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: TDK CorporationInventors: Tsutomu Okabe, Toshihiko Miyajima, Hiroshi Igarashi

Patent number: 4867492Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved door latch assembly having a rotatable member which is transparent or translucent and to which a door knob structure is coupled. The member is rotatably mounted between a pair of support plates, and the member has a roller on the outer periphery thereof. A number of pivotally mounted links on one of the support plates operates to move a latch bolt into its retracted position when the roller moves in either direction under the influence of the rotation of the member by turning a door knob element of the door structure. The various links cooperate with each other to cause immediate movement of the latch bolt upon rotation of the member, yet the links are not visible from a position exteriorly of the door in which the latch assembly is mounted.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1987Date of Patent: September 19, 1989Assignee: Peter C.
