  • Patent number: 6079756
Abstract: A latch mechanism for use with an oven having a door, the latch mechanism including a base plate which pivotably supports a latch member about a pivot point. The latch member is rotatable between a latched and unlatched position and includes a drive surface offset from the pivot point. An actuator pin is supported by the base plate for rectilinear movement wherein the actuator pin has an outer end extending beyond the base plate for engaging the oven door upon closure and an inner end drivingly engaging the drive surface for rotating the latch member into a latched position against a spring bias. • Patent number: 5782511
Abstract: The invention concerns decompression locks releasing a flap or plate from their closed position in the event of overpressure. A decompression lock, employing the known principle of overcoming the retaining force of a spring (14) to achieve opening, employs a bolt (11) rotatably supported in a longitudinally displaceable support carriage (8). A detent spring (14) keeps the bolt (11) in the closed position and will release it at a predetermined overpressure. During assembly or in the event of forced opening, the decompression lock is moved into the closed position solely by closing the flap or plate.

  • Patent number: 5704663
Abstract: A self-tightening side lock (20) for a roll-up door includes a keeper (25) mounted on the jamb, and a latch member (26) pivotally mounted on a door panel. The latch member is selectively cooperable with a catch (30) to hold the door in a closed position. The latch member is biased to move in a counter-clockwise direction. The latch member is adapted to be moved in a clockwise direction, against the opposing bias or a spring 42, to an out-of-the-way position at which the displaced latch may pass by the catch. The latch member has a side cam surface (33) arranged to engage the catch (30) when the door is lowered and to cause the latch member to pivot in a clockwise direction toward the out-of-the-way position to allow the latch member to pass by the catch. The latch member also has an upper cam surface (34) arranged to engage the catch such that the counter-clockwise movement of the latch member will cause the door to be self-tightening.

  • Patent number: 5662363
Abstract: Windows are provided including a latch member which is pivotably mounted to one of the support structures of the window. The latch member includes a body portion including first and second transverse ends. At one end is located a projecting portion which extends laterally from the body portion. This projecting portion includes a first contact surface which slides against a descending panel of the window when the panel is lowered into a closed position. This sliding action rotates the latch member away from the path of the lowering panel. Upon closing the panel, the latch member is then rotated substantially by gravitational force to a latching position along the panel to secure it in a closed position. This invention is particularly adapted to bug and security screens.

Abstract: In a door latching and switch contact controlling device, an actuator having first and second radially extending angularly spaced apart members is mounted on a common shaft in a housing with a latching member for the member and actuator to rotate together. A striker fastened to a door strikes the first radially extending member when the door closes to turn the actuator so the second member rotates into an opening in the striker to thereby conceal the first member. An electroresponsive device positions a latching element into the path of a stop on the latching member when the device is energized, thereby preventing the actuator from turning reversely if an attempt is made to open the door.

  • Patent number: 4824151
Abstract: A door lock comprising a block having a slot into which a locking arm moves when the door is shut. A pivot arm is resiliently biassed to extend into the slot and, a separate locking element is resiliently biassed to slidably extend into the slot. While a rotatable element is resiliently biassed to rotate clockwise to bring a roller directly under the locking element, the pivot arm abuts the roller and is itself resiliently biassed to prevent the roller from reaching a position fully under the locking element. Entry of the locking arm into the slot depresses the pivot arm forcing the locking element downward to permit full entry of the locking arm into the slot. As the locking element descends, the roller is urged counter-clockwise and the locking element engages a channel in the locking arm. The depressed pivot arm will not abut the roller at this point thereby allowing it to reach a position fully under the locking element which locks the locking element in the locking arm channel.

Abstract: A crash bar door locking device is provided, suited for mounting on the inside of a swinging door. The crash bar is mounted horizontally across the door providing ready access by movement in the outside direction. The crash bar activates a pivotal lever which causes a latch bolt to rotate inwardly and disengage from a door strike. The pivotal lever provides a deadbolt feature by preventing the rotation of the latch bolt. A release is incorporated in the latch bolt and allows the latch bolt to rotate when the release engages the door strike as the door closes. An additional unlocking mechanism may be provided for retracting the latch bolt from the outside of the door independently of the crossbar. A firelocking mechanism may be incorporated in the latch bolt to secure the latch bolt when a fire occurs. Two pins with a spring between them are retained by fusible plugs at either end of a bore in the latch bolt, so that the latch bolt operates as a normal lock on the door.
