  • Patent number: 11519201
Abstract: A motor vehicle door lock, comprising a locking mechanism, which essentially consists of a rotary latch and a pawl, and further comprising an actuation lever mechanism acting on the locking mechanism, and an inertia element. Said inertia element, during normal operation, follows a movement of the actuation lever mechanism. At high accelerations, for example in the event of a crash, the inertia element blocks the actuation lever mechanism acting on the locking mechanism. According to the invention, an elastic damping element is connected to the actuation lever mechanism. Said damping element abuts the inertia element at least in the event of a crash for the purpose of damping vibrations.

  • Patent number: 9486662
Abstract: An apparatus that retracts a plunger along an axis about which a handle pivots. The handle has two ends that are perpendicular, the second end having a sidewall with a barrel forming a chamber in which the plunger is slidably mounted. The sidewall has elongated slots through which opposing roller bars that extend from the plunger protrude through. A collar body is rotatably mounted to the second end and has opposing openings with triangular surfaces. The roller bars rest on the triangular surfaces, and when the first end of the handle is rotated about the central axis, the slot sidewalls drive the roller bars around the triangular surfaces, thereby causing axial movement of the plunger away toward the first end of the handle without moving the first end to move out of the plane in which it rotates.

  • Patent number: 9033376
Abstract: In various embodiments an apparatus is presented for securing a structure such as a door, window, hatch, or gate that moves between an open and a closed position relative to a fixed structure to provide or deny access to a compartment, a room, an outdoor area, or a facility. Various embodiments provide a delay in opening the closure of sufficient duration to frustrate a rapid activation that might be desired by a person who is attempting to pass through the closure for some illicit purpose. Typically, hydraulics are used to activate the apparatus and no electrical energy or electronic signals are employed. In one embodiment, a plurality of actuations of a hand lever operates a hydraulic pump that moves a locking bolt from a first position in which a locking bolt is engaged with a recess in the fixed structure (preventing opening of a gate) to a second position in which the locking bolt is disengaged from the recess to permit opening of the gate.

  • Publication number: 20150084351
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to design a door lock or flap lock which can be easily and reliably opened with little effort. Said aim is achieved by a door lock or flap lock comprising a locking mechanism that consists of a latch and at least one pawl for locking the latch. The lock further comprises a triggering lever which, upon being actuated, allows the locked locking mechanism to be unlocked. The lock also comprises a spring for moving the pawl in the direction of the locking position. The triggering lever is designed in such a way that the actuation thereof at least reduces, preferably altogether cancels the spring force acting on the pawl, i.e., when the triggering lever is actuated, the spring force that presses the pawl in the direction of the locking position decreases at least. Since such a force makes it difficult to unlock a locking mechanism, actuating the triggering lever at least reduces or altogether does away with said difficulty when the spring force is canceled entirely.

Abstract: A latch system includes a catch member and a sear element engaged with the catch member when the catch member is in a latch position. A swing lever is in geared engagement with the sear element. When the latch system is subjected to an acceleration event, the swing lever pivots in one direction so that the sear element pivots in the opposite direction to move the sear element out of engagement with the catch member. The latch system may be installed on a container so that the catch member engages with a latch receptacle coupled to a hinged lid of the container. When the container experiences the acceleration event, the sear element disengages from the catch element and the hinged lid falls open thereby causing the catch member to pivot to the release position. The latch system automatically re-engages when the container is returned to its upright position.

The catch lever (10) renders the actuation lever unit (3, 4) ineffective, at least when acceleration forces of a given magnitude occur, e.g. in case of an accident (crash). According to the invention, the catch lever (10) blocks the actuation lever unit (3, 4) during non-deflected normal operation and in the event of a crash while releasing the actuation lever unit (3, 4) only for deflected normal operation.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of an apparatus for securing a structure such as a door, window, hatch, or gate that moves between an open and a closed position relative to a fixed structure to provide or deny access to a compartment, a room, an outdoor area, or a facility.
