  • Patent number: 11085205
Abstract: A sliding door locking system includes a sliding door having an inner surface that slides over a doorway opening when the door is slidably mounted above the doorway opening, and an outer surface. A lock housing is mounted in the sliding door, the housing having an aperture extending through the inner surface of the sliding door. A latch is hingedly mounted in the aperture such that the latch is moveable from a retracted position, in which the door is slidable along the door opening, and an extended position, in which the latch engages a catch opposite the inner surface of the door and adjacent the doorway opening. At least one of the inner and outer surfaces of the sliding door includes an actuator that, when moved from a first position to a second position, moves the latch from the retracted position to the extended position.

  • Patent number: 11015376
Abstract: A security lock for a door is provided having a bracket on the interior side of the door with a locking bolt mounted in the bracket. The bolt is adapted for movement between a raised, unlocked position above a cavity on the floor below the bracket and a lowered, locked position where the bolt is in the cavity to prevent the door from being opened. A bolt restraint is mounted on the bracket and cooperates with the bracket to maintain the bolt in its unlocked position. The bolt restraint, for example, a spring-loaded ball that engages an annular recess in the bolt, releases the bolt into its locked position when a downward force is applied to the bolt. The locking bolt has an enlarged flange that stops movement of the bolt into the cavity beyond a predetermined location on the bolt.

In this position, a lock can be positioned through the slot opening (42) and through an opening (41) in the tab (40) to lock the latch assembly (13) and thus the cover (11) on the base portion (12).

  • Patent number: 5037146
Abstract: A lock for a detachable vehicle body part, particularly a roof of a motor vehicle, includes a fixed receiving device and a movable actuating member. The actuating member, which is pivoted at a pin, has a circular plate with a circle segment-type flattening and is adjustable from a closed position to an open position and vice versa. The adjustments are accomplished by moving the actuating member along a circular path segment. In the closed position, the actuating member reaches over the receiving device.

  • Patent number: 4896624
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a hook and a spring having an elongated arm portion. The spring is attached to the top of a conventional roadside mailbox with the arm parallel to the longitudinal centerline of the mailbox and with its end extending a short distance beyond the door at the end of the mailbox. The hook is attached to the door so that it can engage the end of the arm when the door is closed. The spring is such that when the door is opened and the hook is thereby moved to discharge from the end of the arm, the arm springs upward and comes to rest at a position up and away from the top of the mailbox, indicating that the door has been opened. The positions of the arm are made more clearly visible by tufts, tassels or the like attached to the arm near the end engaged by the hook. After the door is re-closed, the arm is manually reengaged with the hook.

  • Patent number: 4878700
Abstract: A stiffening device for an electronics cabinet has at least two angle struts that are each formed by profile bars. The profile bars enclose an obtuse angle between them and are pivoted in the upper and lower corner regions of the cabinet frame rack. The angle struts are coupled to each other in a frictional, form-locking manner at their vertices by a tightening assembly when in a closed position. A formed fit over a large area is obtained when tightening the angle struts by attaching the profile bars of each angle strut to a door. The pivots of each angle strut are used for the pivots of the corresponding door. The tightening assembly includes a hole of radius R.sub.1 arranged at the vertex of one angle strut and a hole of radius R.sub.2 arranged at the vertex of the other angle strut. The hole dimensions are such that R.sub.2 is greater than R.sub.1. A tightening latch is arranged in both holes. The tightening latch has a first disc of radius R.sub.1 pivoted in the corresponding hole of radius R.sub.1.

  • Patent number: 4826222
Abstract: A latch having a base and a latch plate pivoted thereto, the base being adapted for installation on a closure frame and the latch plate being adapted to overlie the closure. The latch plate is pivotally mounted on the base to swing between an unlatched position in which the closure can be opened, and a latched position in which the closure cannot be opened because the latch plate overlies it. A handle pivotally mounted on the base swings the latch plate between the open and closed positions. At least one of the base and latch plate are made of an elastically deformable material. The latch plate is moved to the latching position by the camming action of the handle; and when the latch plate has moved only part way toward the fully latched position, abutment surfaces on the base and latch plate come into contact with each other.

Abstract: A hasp-type latch includes a hasp member with a base having a base wall and a pair of upstanding side walls and a latch arm which is pivotally mounted thereon. The side walls of the pad include releasable latching elements which are engageable with the arm in its open position to hold it in that position. The staple member has a base with a top wall and a depending sidewall defining a cavity thereunder, and the top wall has an opening therethrough. A post member has a pedestal portion which extends through the opening into the cavity of the staple base, and a post portion which extends upwardly through the aperture in the arm in its closed position. The pedestal portion includes securing means in the cavity which extends outwardly beyond the opening in the top wall to prevent the post member from being pulled through that opening. Generally the post member is rotatable to locate an elongate axis so that it overlies a portion of the hinge leaf in the closed position and prevents its being pivoted upwardly.

  • Patent number: 4747632
Abstract: An operating handle mechanism for remotely actuating a closure latch including a handle mounted on a housing by a pivot. A coil spring anchored on the pivot has a first end seated on the housing and a second end seated on the handle to bias the handle to a normal unactuating position. A yieldable plastic button member mounted on the housing projects into the path of movement of the second end of the spring during actuating movement of the handle. During movement of the handle to the actuating position the second end of the spring is carried into engagement with the yieldable plastic button member and is temporarily unseated from the handle, and then snaps past the button member to again seat on the housing during further movement of the handle to the full actuated position, thereby providing a perceptible audible and tactile signal to the operator confirming actuation of the handle and the remote latch actuated thereby.
