    Abstract: A passive entry system for an vehicle door requires no active operator input to gain entrance to the vehicle. A door module recognizes the signal transmitted by an authorized key fob to identify the operator of the vehicle. The authentication of the operator coupled with the operator touching a sensor on the door to be opened actuates a release actuator that unlatches the selected door. The spring-load provided by the door seal will pop the door open from the closed position. A key cylinder, which can be located substantially anywhere on the door, is coupled mechanically to the release latch for use if the battery is weak and cannot activate the release actuator. An LED signals the state of the opening sequence for the door. The fixed door handle can incorporate a membrane switch or a capacitive sensor to indicate the selection of the door by the operator when touched.

After the window is closed, the wiper motor may drive the wiper arm and wiper blade from the window release position towards the inwipe position.

A latch bolt and a door-position sensor are mounted within the housing, each extensible and retractable relative to the housing. The actuator has an intermediate position where the latch bolt and sensor are free to move into the housing, a deadlocking position with the actuator shifted in one direction from this intermediate position where the latch bolt is deadlocked in an extended position with the sensor retracted, and another position which produces retraction of the sensor and latch bolt. A pneumatic device powers movement of the actuator toward its other position and a spring biases the actuator toward its deadlocking position.

    Abstract: A crash bar door locking device is provided, suited for mounting on the inside of a swinging door. The crash bar is mounted horizontally across the door providing ready access by movement in the outside direction. The crash bar activates a pivotal lever which causes a latch bolt to rotate inwardly and disengage from a door strike. The pivotal lever provides a deadbolt feature by preventing the rotation of the latch bolt. A release is incorporated in the latch bolt and allows the latch bolt to rotate when the release engages the door strike as the door closes. An additional unlocking mechanism may be provided for retracting the latch bolt from the outside of the door independently of the crossbar. A firelocking mechanism may be incorporated in the latch bolt to secure the latch bolt when a fire occurs. Two pins with a spring between them are retained by fusible plugs at either end of a bore in the latch bolt, so that the latch bolt operates as a normal lock on the door.
