Abstract: A latch system includes a catch member and a sear element engaged with the catch member when the catch member is in a latch position. A swing lever is in geared engagement with the sear element. When the latch system is subjected to an acceleration event, the swing lever pivots in one direction so that the sear element pivots in the opposite direction to move the sear element out of engagement with the catch member. The latch system may be installed on a container so that the catch member engages with a latch receptacle coupled to a hinged lid of the container. When the container experiences the acceleration event, the sear element disengages from the catch element and the hinged lid falls open thereby causing the catch member to pivot to the release position. In response to a second unlocking actuation, the catch hook rotates into the opening direction of rotation up to a release position of the locking bracket of the locking pawl, thereby releasing the catch hook.

Abstract: A push-pull type door latch opens a door by applying direct mechanical force on the pull side, and by remote action on the push side through conveying a force through a motion transfer belt that connects the two handles. The latch involves no access holes in the door so each handle may be situated at offset positions with respect to each other.

Abstract: A latch assembly includes a forkbolt movable between a released position, allowing opening of a closure, and a restrained position, preventing opening of the closure. A forkbolt spring is configured to bias the forkbolt toward the released position. A primary detent is mounted with respect to the forkbolt and movable between an open position, allowing the forkbolt to move into the released position, and a closed position, not allowing the forkbolt to move into the released position. A secondary detent is movable between an unlocked position, allowing the primary detent to move into the open position, and a locked position, preventing the primary detent from moving into the open position. An actuator selectively moves the secondary detent from the locked position to the unlocked position.

Abstract: A switching lever of a vehicle door lock device includes a lever main body, an inertial lever having a mass body pivotably disposed on the lever main body so as to be pivotable from its initial position about a pivot, and a torsion coil spring disposed between the lever main body and the inertial lever and biasing the inertial lever towards its initial position. If the inertial lever is disposed in its initial position and is displaced integrally with the lever main body, the inertial lever will press a pawl, thereby causing a fork to switch to an unlocked position. However, if an inertial force greater than a pre-determined value acts on the mass body, the inertial lever will pivot from its initial position in a direction opposite of the interial force and avoid pressing the pawl, such that the fork is maintained in a locked state.

Abstract: A vehicular console storage system has a pivotable lid and a striker movable with the lid. A pawl is mounted in a fixed location for selectably receiving the striker, wherein the pawl is movable between a latching position and a release position. The pawl holds the striker so that the lid is held closed when in the latching position, and the pawl has a cam surface. A spring-loaded cam follower is at least in partial contact with the cam surface and is movable between an extended position and a retracted position to provide a first resistance to motion of the pawl from the latching position to the release position. The first resistance is easily overcome by manual manipulation by a user. A movable lever has an activated position and a deactivated position, wherein the activated position interferes with movement of the pawl from the latching position to the release position. An inertial sensor is provided for moving the movable lever to the activated position in response to a predetermined acceleration.

Abstract: A locking system or a storage unit with the locking system, includes a locking core and a connected cammed lever. A user can rotate the core and lever about an axis when a latch is disengaged from a detent. When the latch is engaged with the detent, the core and the cammed lever are prevented from rotating about the axis. When the locking assembly is installed within the storage unit, the latch may be configured to strike a guide associated with a locking bar assembly, so that when the latch is moved to an unlatched position, the locking core and the lever are free to rotate, operating the locking bar between locked and unlocked positions. When the latch is withdrawn away from the guide, the latch engages with the detent to prevent movement of the lever and locking core relative to the locking assembly, to retain the lever and locking core in a desired, predetermined orientation.
