Publication number: 20140306464Abstract: A door security device for preventing opening of a door. A first device includes a bar that seats against a doorframe on opposite sides of the door and a clamp that clasps a door latch and applies a force to draw the bar against the doorframe while pulling the door latch toward the bar. The door cannot be opened away from the bar. A second device has a bar that seats against a doorframe at the floor with a two plates that extend beneath the door and around to opposite sides of the doorframe. Removable pins or other locks obstruct the plates from sliding along the bar. The bar is tall enough that the door cannot pass over the bar, thus obstructing the door from opening inwardly. A closer cover slides over a mechanical door closing mechanism to be used alone or with the other devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2014Publication date: October 16, 2014Applicant: Silverback Safety & Training Solutions, Inc.Inventor: Troy Bryan Lowe

Patent number: 7862092Abstract: A door lock for locking a door to an underlying structure. A machine element disposed in connection to a through opening in the underlying structure is arranged so as to engage a bolt that is insertable into a through opening in the door. The machine element is inserted through the opening in the underlying structure to a position at which the openings in the door and the underlying structure form, together with the part of the machine element that extends outside of the underlying structure, a length that is longer than the bolt length, while at the same time an internal thread on the machine element extends sufficiently far through the underlying structure that, with the joint mounted, it engages the bolt to create the joint. Also, a method for manufacturing the door lock.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2004Date of Patent: January 4, 2011Assignee: Saab ABInventors: Nils-Gunnar Jaktlund, Lars Löfgren

Patent number: 7350837Abstract: The invention is a special bar assembly that could be easily installed on a steel door of a commercial building. The invention comprises a permanent door piece, door mounting hardware, and a lock piece assembly. The secure bar when in a locked position will keep the door from opening by impacting the door jam of the door that it is attached too. To unlock the secure bar simply detach and remove the lock piece assembly. A second embodiment of the secure bar enjoys all the same parts, and features with the exception of a longer lock piece for use on a double-door configuration.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2006Date of Patent: April 1, 2008Inventor: Charles W. Patent number: 4964659Abstract: A latching mechanism is provided for enabling perimeter locking for doors and the like. A diaphragm is provided which engages a surrounding frame along the perimeter of the diaphragm. Slots in the diaphragm enable a reduction of the diaphragm perimeter by movement of a central portion of the diaphragm in a direction perpendicular to the original plane of the diaphragm. When the diaphragm perimeter is reduced, simultaneous disengagement between the perimeter and the surrounding frame occurs.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1989Date of Patent: October 23, 1990Inventor: William C. Patent number: 4664431Abstract: For use with a container with a removable cover at the top opening, at least one pair of cover tightening members are pivotally linked with each other and are mounted to the cover so that they can be operated to tighten the cover to the container or release it from the container. Specifically, each of the tightening members has an internally threaded central bore through it for accommodating its operating member which is also threaded to engage the central bore. The tightening member further includes stationary or fixed pawls at both ends thereof that engage or disengage with the flanged lateral sides of the container. Thus, when the operating member advances through the central bore, the pawls are disengaged from the flanges to allow the cover to be removed from the container, and when operating members are retracted, the pawls are made to engage the flanges to tighten the cover to the container. In either case, one tightening member is operatively associated with the other by means of the pivotted links.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1985Date of Patent: May 12, 1987Assignee: Tipton Manufacturing CorporationInventors: Hisamine Kobayashi, Katsuhiro Izuhara

Patent number: 4498695Abstract: A latching mechanism and pressure-operated safety lock for a pressure vessel such as a pressure fryer, the invention positively locks a lid of a pressure fryer over the cooking pot by means of a latch mounted on the distal end of a bar which centrally engages the lid to bias the lid into a pressure-tight relation with upper peripheral edges of the pot. The latch includes a spindle having a hook element formed at the lower end for engaging a catch mounted on the body of the fryer on tightening of the latch by rotation of a hub mounted on the spindle. The hub is provided with radially extending handles which facilitate rotation thereof. A safety lock operated by pressure generated by food cooking within the fryer cooperates with the latch to prevent opening of the lid when pressure of at least a predetermined value exists within the fryer.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1981Date of Patent: February 12, 1985Assignee: Robert C. Patent number: 4214518Abstract: Apparatus for treating meat comprises introducing pieces of meat into a tumbling drum rotatable about a horizontal axis and which contains circumferentially spaced rods on the inside of the drum adjacent to its periphery and parallel to the axis of rotation. The rods contain teeth so that upon rotation of the drum the meat is tumbled causing the teeth to produce a mass of small cuts in the surface of the meat. The drum is sealed by a watertight door that is readily opened and closed, as needed. The tumbling process takes approximately 20 minutes. The tumbling in combination with the formation of small cuts in the surface of the meat increases the exposure of myosin protein at the meat surface and also improves color uniformity and dispersion of pickling solution in the meat.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1975Date of Patent: July 29, 1980Assignee: Foldenauer Equipment Co., Inc.Inventor: Lee E. Patent number: 4145259Abstract: A closure for an opening into a combustion chamber or a distillation chamber which tightly seals said opening. The closure has a central portion with a lip at its periphery having at least one sealing surface thereon. A member adjacent to the opening has a seat portion located out of proximity of said opening which contacts the sealing surface of the lip when the closure is closed. A hinge mechanism mounting the closure adjacent to the opening and permitting removal of the closure from the opening and a locking lever supported adjacent to the opening to force the sealing surface of the lip against the seat portion to seal the opening when the closure is closed. The seal is located out of proximity of a passageway in communication with the opening.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1977Date of Patent: March 20, 1979Assignee: Bloom Engineering Company, Inc.Inventor: Hans E. Patent number: 4073239Abstract: A hatch cover having a locking mechanism comprising a single hand wheel with a shaft threaded to the cover for limited up and down movement as the hand wheel is turned. A locking strap is hinged on one side of the hatch cover, releasably locked on the other side and has an opening through which the shaft extends. The locking strap is confined between the hand wheel and a thrust washer attached to the shaft in such a fashion that rotation of the hand wheel in one direction produces contact between the locking strap and thrust washer to force the cover downwardly. Rotation in the other direction lifts the hatch cover to permit unlatching of the locking strap and access to the hopper.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1976Date of Patent: February 14, 1978Assignee: Apex Railway Products Co.Inventor: Franklin P. Patent number: 4061382Abstract: A bolt has an inner end threaded into a door body. A sleeve surrounds the bolt, and a locking bar surrounds the sleeve. A spring is supported by the bolt and urges the sleeve and locking bar toward the outer end of the bolt. A nut is threaded onto the outer end of the bolt and contacts the sleeve, so that rotation of the nut moves the sleeve axially of the bolt to adjust the pressure of the spring on the locking bar. A lock nut is screwed onto the outer end of the bolt and is locked to the nut, so that rotation of the lock nut rotates the bolt and adjusts the circumferential position of the locking bar.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1976Date of Patent: December 6, 1977Assignee: Didier Engineering GmbHInventor: Klaus-Peter Dahl
