  • Patent number: 4318559
Abstract: An automatic lockable linkage system for use with sliding members, such as a sliding door or window, comprising a first and second telescoping arm member pivotally interconnected adjacent to their inner end portions. Each telescoping arm member also has an outer end which is pivotally connectable to a fixed structure and a sliding member, respectively. When the sliding member is in the closed position, a lockable sliding linkage is automatically positioned over the pivotally interconnected inner end portions of the first and second telescoping arm members retaining the sliding member in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4314722
Abstract: Opening of a door, such as an emergency exit door, is delayed by a door check, the operation of which has been reversed to delay opening of the door instead of delaying closing of the door. The delay is accomplished by a circuit which includes a normally open valve held closed by a solenoid. When the solenoid is de-energized, the circuit is opened allowing the reversed door check to operate so that the door can be opened. The solenoid is controlled by an electrical timing circuit which is started by a switch connected to a door operator such as a push bar.

  • Patent number: 4257657
Abstract: A releasable locking mechanism for maintaining the door of a merchandising machine in an open position for loading or servicing. Respective link arms pivotally interconnected at one end are pivotally coupled at their other ends to the door and to the cabinet for movement to an aligned position limiting further movement of the door away from the cabinet. A spring biases one of the arms from its aligned position against a stop to provide an automatic locking action, while an extension of the link arm coupled to the door permits ready kick release of the arms from their locking position.

  • Patent number: 4216983
Abstract: A detachable sunroof panel is adapted to be secured within an opening formed in the roof of an automobile. The securement is carried out by a system of latches, all of which act on the panel to compress a resilient seal member extending about the periphery of the opening between the roof panel and a lip portion formed on a frame secured within the opening. The latch system includes a latch-handle mechanism located at the rear edge of the panel comprised of an overcenter linkage which may also be detached for removal of the sunroof panel. The latch-handle may be moved to a latched position, or to a second vent position allowing movement of the rear portion of the sunroof panel upwardly to create a vent opening. The latch system further includes a pair of latch-hinges located along the front edge of the panel, each of which also comprise a releasable overcenter linkage adapted to compress the peripheral seal in the secured or locked position and upon release allow detachment and removal of the sunroof panel.

  • Patent number: 4206939
Abstract: A toggle catch for an automobile vent window and the like with a base, handle and an intermediate link pivotably connected to the base and handle. The handle has a pair of opposed spring biased latches which engage opposed flanges of a base portion of the toggle catch. The latches are manually operable to a disengaging position to allow the toggle catch to move to an open position. Upon closure of the toggle catch, the latches have prongs with camming surfaces which automatically bias the latch over the flanges until the prongs are under the flange and allowed to spring back to the engaged position to automatically lock the toggle catch in a closed and locked position.

  • Patent number: 4109947
Abstract: A latch assembly for releasably securing a door in closing relation to an open end of a chamber. The latch assembly includes two latching members, one of which is mounted adjacent the open end of the chamber and the other is mounted on the door such that it moves in a plane as the door is moved between its open and closed positions. The one member has a surface which is inclined in two directions to the aforementioned plane such that should a predetermined force be exerted upon the door in an effort to move it from its closed position without actuating the latch assembly release, the latching member mounted on the door will cam the inclined surface so as to move it in a plane which defines an angle with the aforementioned plane thereby unlatching the assembly before any damage is caused to the assembly or door.

  • Patent number: 4067605
Abstract: A frame extending around an opening in a vehicle roof is adapted to support the perimeter of a curved glass panel to close off the opening. A pair of bayonets projecting in spaced relation to the underside of the forward edge of the panel mates with an aperture in the frame when the panel is inclined with respect to the roof to act as a pivotable hinge allowing motion of the panel between a closed position and that inclined position. A two part fastener for the rear edge of the panel includes a handle pivotably connected to the underside of the panel and a tongue pivotably connected to the handle and adapted to be retained in a lock member in the frame. The handle acts as an over-center linkage to bend the panel against its curvature, forcing its perimeter into intimate engagement with the frame or may be extended to maintain the panel with its rear edge tilted upwardly away from the opening.

  • Patent number: 4040654
Abstract: Two arms of an articulated linkage are pivotally connected together. The distal end of one arm is connected at a pivot point to the side of the vehicle body, and the distal end of the other arm is connected to a tailgate pivot screw located on a linkage plate attached to the tailgate. When the arms are extended, the tailgate is held in a horizontal open position. As the tailgate is raised to the closed position, the connecting pivot point of the arms is moved downward, and a projecting guide tab on the linkage plate gathers the articulated linkage. A lock lever pivoted on the side of the vehicle has a slot to snap over the tailgate pivot screw of the tailgate, and is locked with a wing nut on the screw.
