Screw Catch Patents (Class 292/276)
  • Patent number: 7628835
Abstract: In a fastening portion for fastening an upper retaining portion and a lower retaining portion by means of a mounting screw, the upper retaining portion has a screw hole and a cylindrical guide formed around and above the screw hole. Further, a projection is formed on the inner wall of the cylindrical guide at an upper portion thereof. In a loosened condition of the mounting screw where it is disengaged from a screw hole, the head portion of the mounting screw is caught to be retained by the projection. The upper portion of the cylindrical guide is tapered so that it has an inner diameter smaller than the diameter of the head portion of the mounting screw. Accordingly, even when the upper retaining portion is turned upside down in the loosened condition of the mounting screw, the mounting screw does not fall down from the upper retaining portion.

  • Patent number: 5228737
Abstract: A device for holding a vehicle's lid, e.g., an automobile's trunk lid, in a partly-open position to enable an oversized article to be placed inside the vehicle's compartment which would normally be closed by the lid. The holder generally includes an upper lid clamp assembly, a lower body clamp assembly, and a linkage member. The upper lid clamp assembly includes means for pivotally and adjustably attaching the linkage member thereto. The lower body clamp assembly includes means for pivotally and preferably releasably attaching the linkage member thereto.

  • Patent number: 4792169
Abstract: In a double-hung window system of the type having upper and lower ventilating sliding sashes and a lock having a lapping assembly having upper and lower vertical lapping members the closer ends of which form a stop assembly together with a stop means cooperative therewith for stopping upward movement of the lower lapping member with respect to the upper lapping member. The upper lapping member is attached to the upper sash and the lower lapping member is attached to the lower sash whereby, with the window system open for ventilation, the amount of opening space available to a burglar who seeks to enter is limited so long as the lapping remains in place. The new feature thereof being means anchoring the upper end of the lapping assembly to the window frame so that a burglar cannot reach from the outside to the upper end of the frame anchored lapping assembly for forcing it inward out of its locking position.

  • Patent number: 4428154
Abstract: A safety lock for a window mounted for pivotal movement about a centrally disposed vertical axis embodies a lock assembly housing mounted on the window sill intermediate the vertical axis and a window jamb. An elongated vertically extending locking member mounted on the lock assembly housing is movable selectively to a locked position with its upper end adjacent the housing and to an unlocked position with its upper end spaced from the housing. A latch assembly housing is mounted on the lower portion of the window intermediate the vertical axis and a vertical side frame member. A connector arm is pivotally connected at one end to a lower portion of the latch assembly housing with its other end engaging the locking member to permit pivotal movement of the window selectively to a closed position and to a limited open position.
