A shackle is automatically engaged when inserted into a body portion of the padlock. Engagement members mounted in the body portion are biassed to engage recesses in limbs of the shackle in such a way that the padlock will deform before the shackle will be removed by the application of force. Means may be provided for preventing rotation of the limbs of a sheared shackle engaged by the body portion.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1974Date of Patent: February 10, 1976Assignee: Aardee Spring & Lock Company LimitedInventor: John McCoag
