Patent number: 9290882Abstract: The present invention relates to a clutch for a laundry appliance. The clutch selectively connects a laundry vessel to a variable speed drive. A driven member is rotationally coupled to the variable speed drive and a driven member is rotationably coupled to the laundry vessel. The driven member is at least partially rotationally coupled to the driven member by friction. At least one locking element is moveable from an unlocked position to a locking position. The driven member and the driven member are rotationally coupled together once the driven member accelerates to a rotational speed above a first rotational speed, connecting the laundry vessel to the variable speed drive.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2010Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: Fisher & Paykel Appliances LimitedInventors: Geoffrey Paul Batt, Sophie Elizabeth Lane, David Charles Rhodes, Ian Campbell McGill

Patent number: 9212470Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide various quick release hose guide designs which can be attached to, or removed from, a work machine with less effort than conventionally required. Exemplary embodiments of the hose guides include a sleeve which slides over a post on the work machine when hydraulic hoses of an attachment are to be connected to the hydraulic system of the work machine. A quick release pin is inserted through apertures in the sleeve and in the post to secure the hose guide in place. A snap clip connected to the pin can then be used to help insure that the pin remains in place. In some embodiments, unlike conventional hose guide designs, the hose guides remain with the attachment or implement hoses when the attachment is removed from the work machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2009Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Assignee: Clark Equipment CompanyInventor: Jeremy A. Patent number: 7370892Abstract: A security seal has a housing and a hasp moveable relative to the housing in a first direction between a locked position and a unlocked position. The hasp, in the locked position, is lockable to the housing by a disposable seal. The housing has an opening to allow the insertion of the disposable seal in a second direction different from the first direction. The hasp includes a first locking element engageable, in the locked position, with a second, matching locking element of the disposable seal to prevent movement of the hasp in the first direction toward the unlocked position and withdrawal of the disposable seal in the second direction. The hasp is attached to the housing so as to be both slidable and pivotable relative to the housing.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2005Date of Patent: May 13, 2008Assignee: ITW LimitedInventor: James Collingham

Patent number: 7270354Abstract: A locking device having an upper portion, a lower portion, and a locking arm prevents a closed door from being opened. The locking arm is pivotably mounted to the lower portion of the locking device and positioned in cavities of the upper portion and the lower portion. A pivot bolt is operatively attached to the lower portion and an end of the locking arm. A locking bolt extends transverse and through the locking arm and through the lower portion for securing the locking arm. The locking bolt has a key or detent, which is received by a corresponding groove in the lower portion. The locking arm extends vertically from the lower portion upwardly above the lower edge of the door, thereby preventing the door from being opened outwardly when in a closed position. The upper portion and the lower portion are preferably bulbous shaped.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2005Date of Patent: September 18, 2007Inventor: Radovan Soumar

Patent number: 6948746Abstract: One end of a stranded steel cable is attached to a cast zinc seal housing having a chamber in which a steel sleeve with a tapered bore is positioned. The sleeve in one embodiment is fixed to the housing in the chamber or may be displaceable and captured in the chamber in a further embodiment. A serpentine clip locking member captured in the housing chamber resiliently radially grips the a second end of the shackle inserted into the sleeve bore and wedges and locks to the cable and sleeve when the shackle is withdrawn. The sleeve precludes damage to the softer zinc housing by the locking member when the locking member is displaced in the housing chamber. Various embodiments are disclosed. In a further embodiment, the one end of the cable exits the housing in a plane different than where the second end enters the chamber to enhance ease of insertion of the second end into engagement with the locking member.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2003Date of Patent: September 27, 2005Assignee: Transguard IndustriesInventors: Terrence N. Publication number: 20020089193Abstract: When a slide piece is fitted to a slide groove, the slide piece can be slid. When a latch is caught by recesses, a position of the slide piece in the slide groove is stabilized. Since the slide groove is provided with a plurality of the recesses at constant intervals, among the recesses, the recess at a most suitable position is selected and the latch is caught by the recess. The slide piece is integral with the inserting portion of a strap and therefore, the position of the slide piece is determined so as to adjust a length of the strap around the wrist. Further, the latch is only urged by a spring and the recess is not so deep as to engage the latch and therefore, when the slide piece is pushed or pulled by exerting force, the position of the slide piece can also be changed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2001Publication date: July 11, 2002Inventors: Dai Terasawa, Katsunobu Iguchi, Nobuhide Matsumoto, Yoshinori Bito

Patent number: 5934113Abstract: A padlock concept consisting of a novel shackle comprised of two tapered shackle elements arranged so that they overlay each other to enclose and opening sufficient to accept the staple of a hasp or attachment device. The shackle elements are connected at one end and when unlocked and unlatched are free to move apart, in a motion causing the two shackle elements to separate, providing a clearance between them, at the unconnected end. Each shackle element includes an opening to allow the staple of the hasp to pass to the common opening. This clearance occurs in opposing elements so that when the elements are brought together or closed the staple of the hasp is completely enclosed by the two shackle elements which substantially fill the space available within the hasp staple. The elements are then latched and locked to provide the security function of a padlock engaged with the staple of a hasp or attachment device.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1998Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Inventor: Robert W. Patent number: 5871243Abstract: A seal for use with a flexible wire for providing visible evidence of tampering therewith includes a housing and a wire retaining key. The housing has two passageways for passage of the ends of the flexible wire therethrough so that the ends of the flexible wire extend beyond the boundaries of the housing. The housing also includes a keyway for receipt of the wire retaining key. The wire retaining key is inserted into the keyway and intersects the passageways so that the flexible wire passing through the housing is intercepted and bears against the wire retaining key. In this manner, the wire retaining key intercepts and deforms the flexible wire, whereby removal of the flexible wire from the housing is prevented. The key also preferably includes a detent which snaps into an engaging position within the housing when fully inserted therein. An audible snapping sound may preferably be heard to indicate that the detent is in the engaging position.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1997Date of Patent: February 16, 1999Assignee: American Casting & Manufacturing Corp.Inventor: Joseph H. Patent number: 4728132Abstract: A bolt lock, for receiving and locking the end of a bolt having a head portion with a locking shoulder, said lock comprising a housing having internal jaws forming a central aperture, said jaws being expansible to allow the head of the bolt to snap through the opening so the the bolt shoulder latches behind the jaws. The jaws are retained in the housing above an aperture in the body which receives the inserted bolt head and below a bolt aperture in the upper portion of the housing, so that when the bolt is assembled, axial movement thereof causes the edges of the apertures to contact the internal jaws around and in spaced relation to the central aperture thereof. The jaws have upper and lower surfaces which are slightly inclined toward each other in relation to the axis of the central opening from the central aperture to the periphery of the jaws.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1985Date of Patent: March 1, 1988Assignee: Trans-Guard Industries, Inc.Inventor: Terrence N.
