  • Patent number: 4902058
Abstract: A door lock has an open lever linked with an open rod and pivotally mounted on a base plate and a locking lever linked with a locking link and pivotally mounted on a sub plate, the open lever and the locking lever being linked with each other through a locking rod so that a door is selectively locked and unlocked by the pivotal motion of the open lever which is caused by the pivotal motion of the locking lever. The door lock further has a protective wall in the shape of an upright wall which is formed integral with the side surface of the open lever which faces the locking lever. Since the protective wall which is formed integral with the open lever functions as a protective means, it is possible to reduce the number of parts and the number of man-hours needed for the assembling operation and further use the door lock in common to all types of vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4896906
Abstract: A vehicle door lock system includes a rotary latch having an elongate housing with opposed ends that are tapered so as to be securely received, when "latched," within an elongate U-shaped striker assembly that has a pair of spaced, inwardly facing wedge blocks at opposed ends. As the rotary latch releasably engages the striker to effect "latching," the tapered end regions of the latch housing are wedgingly engaged by the wedge blocks of the striker to guide the latch into properly aligned engagement with the striker, and to maintain proper alignment of the rotary latch with the striker while "latched." By this arrangement, a strong, racking-resistant type of latched connection is provided that will assist in preventing undesired relative movements of a door and a door frame on which the latch and striker are mounted, respectively. Handle assemblies are connected to the rotary latch to operate the latch to effect "unlatching" of the latch and the striker.

  • Patent number: 4729585
Abstract: A trumpet lock has an extending shell and a rotating shell which are disposed about a cylinder. The rotating shell and extending shell can be manipulated by a projection-and-slot arrangement into two positions, namely a short position and a long position. The trumpet lock has a dead bolt and an anti-burglar bolt which are linked by a guarding plate, linking-plate, pulling plate, and extending plate. When a door is closed, the anti-burglar bolt is pushed into the shell and remains there so as to prevent entry of the dead bolt into the shell by the obstruction of the guarding plate against the rear portion of the dead bolt.

Abstract: A latching assembly particularly well suited for being mounted on the outside of an insulated door without having to disturb or reduce the insulating material, and which is concealed from view by a channel-like handle used for opening the door. The latching assembly includes a helical cam that rotates as the handle pivots and further includes a follower that is driven by the helical cam parallel to the axis of rotation. The latch bolt is attached to this follower, whereby pivoting motion of the handle is converted into translational motion of the latch bolt.

  • Patent number: 4711477
Abstract: The mechanism is used with a latch-bolt unit (including a latch-bolt head) and a latch-handle assembly, for installation in a door. The novel mechanism includes a retracting member (connected to retract the latch-bolt head), with two different sets of extracting teeth to accommodate two different standard door-lock backset configurations of standard commercial doors. A connecting device, made up of first and second coupling members as well as a movable configuration-selector plate, is connected at the rear of the latch-bolt unit. The connecting device has two different sets of screw openings and clearing spaces. Its selector plate selectively effectuates either of these two different sets of connecting points, corresponding to the two standard backsets. The selector plate is thus used to adjust the latch-bolt mechanism quickly and easily, to accommodate the preferred door-lock backset--without any modification such as cutting or bending.

  • Patent number: 4682802
Abstract: The lock mechanism has a spring and cam assembly provided for returning the lock plunger assembly of the mechanism from a locked to an unlocked position thereof. In addition, however, the spring and cam assembly carries an enlongated limb. When the lock plunger assembly is translated to a locked position, it forces the limb to extend from the spring and cam assembly to a disposition in which it blocks a knob catch which is carried in the outside spindle of the mechanism. Accordingly, for being blocked by the limb, the knob catch cannot be depressed and, consequently, the knob which is latchingly engaged by the catch, cannot be removed from the outside spindle whenever the mechanism is in its locked disposition. The spring and cam assembly comprises a compact unit which is slidably received in the outside spindle and confiningly supports the limb therewithin for extension therefrom into obstruction of the knob catch.

Abstract: The panel lock comprises an elongated housing having resilient wedging means at each end to secure the panel lock in place in a recess in a door, panel or like member. Formed integrally with the elongated housing are a lock housing with a cylindrical opening, a central recessed portion, and a bolt housing. A lock is rotatably secured in the opening in the lock housing. A bolt is slidably positioned in the bolt housing. A spring is operative between the bolt and the bolt housing to bias the bolt outwardly from the bolt housing into locking position. An actuator is slidably secured to the elongated housing and is adapted to engage the bolt. When the actuator is moved in one direction, the bolt is biased outwardly to a latching position by the spring. Movement of the actuator in an opposite direction will move the bolt against the bias of the spring to a release position. Cam means are secured to the lock and are rotatable therewith to lock or to release the actuator.
