  • Patent number: 8469413
Abstract: An anchor plate assembly adjustably mounts a striker on the vehicle pillar. The striker has a striker base with apertures for receiving mounting bolts that will extend though oversized apertures in the pillar. An anchor base has a base plate for engagement with the pillar and bolt slots in the base plate for alignment with the oversized apertures in the pillar. An anchor slide has a slide plate mounted for vertical sliding movement on the base plate. The slide plate has nuts thereon aligned with the oversized apertures of the pillar. The nuts receive the mounting bolts so that when the mounting bolts are loose the striker together with the anchor slide can be adjusted vertically until tightening of the mounting bolts effectively clamps the slide plate of the anchor slide against the base plate of the anchor base to maintain the striker at the vertically adjusted position.

  • Patent number: 8454063
Abstract: A lockable keeper arm extends across an opening of a door strike housing. A pivotally mounted transmission lever releasably engages the keeper arm. A pivotally mounted release lever releasably engages the transmission lever. An actuator engages the release lever at a point between the release lever pivot and the transmission lever and drives the release lever between alternate positions in either fail-safe and fail-secure modes. The actuator engagement point may be closer to the release lever pivot point than the transmission lever engagement point. A stop limits travel of the release lever and may be positioned in alternate positions. In alternate positions, the primary lever unlocks the keeper arm when the actuator is either energized or de-energized, placing the strike in fail-safe or fail-secure modes. Magnets may be mounted inside the housing to attract metal particles. The actuator may be an electric solenoid or a motor.

  • Patent number: 8449006
Abstract: A technique and various door/latch structures are provided to deal efficiently and effectively with excessive appliance door closure/opening forces that can arise in the case that the door strike extension depth is not ideally matched to the relative location of the mating latch mechanism. This is particularly useful in connection with the use of a push-push style access door that must be compressed against a compressible seal gasket in order to effect both opening and closing of the door. A strike member is mounted to one of an appliance cabinet and door so as to be engagable with a latch mechanism when the door is in the closed position. The installing involves initially tentatively mounting the strike in a first of at least two provisioned ways, to thereby provide a first of at least two different strike extension depths. The door operation is then tested to determine whether an excessive operation force is required in order to open or close the door.

Abstract: A slam latch includes a housing and a pair of slide latch components biased toward a strike channel by springs. Each of the slide latch components is independently slideable in a track between a locking position, wherein the slide latch components extend into the strike channel, and a strike receiving position, wherein the slide latch components are slideably moved away from the strike channel into the tracks against the biasing force of the springs. A modular latch kit provides for one of the latch components to be replaced with a plug so as to block any opening on that side of the strike channel. Abstract: An anti-theft system for securing a removable battery to a power tool. The system employs a tamper-proof retainer to ensure that the retail display of a combined power tool and its associated battery can be displayed as a single unit without fear of theft of the battery. This may be achieved by the tamper-proof retainer securing a battery release latch against its release position hence securing the battery to the tool in a manner preventing the removal of the battery by a potential thief. The tamper-proof retainer either prevents removal of the battery from the power tool, as removal of the tamper-proof retainer is impossible, or, if it is destroyed by a thief, then it permanently secures the battery to the power tool.

Abstract: An integrated latch system is described. The integrated latch system including at least a latch, a keeper, and a discrete actuator. In a closed state, the actuator is in direct contact with the keeper and applies a first force to the keeper, the latch applies a second force to the keeper, the first and the second force cooperating to engage the latch and the keeper. In transitioning from the closed state to the open state, a releasing force is applied to the latch, the latch moving at least a predetermined distance in response to the releasing force thereby causing the latch and the keeper to disengage. The actuator applies an ejection force onto the keeper and the keeper moves to an open position in response to the ejection force.
