Cam And Lever Patents (Class 292/46)
  • Patent number: 10676967
Abstract: A rotary latch assembly is provided which can be configured as right-handed and left-handed using the same rotor and catch components, without reconfiguring the front and back plates. The axles for the rotor and catch are identical so that the rotor and catch can be interchanged on the axles. The latch biasing springs are mirror images so as to be used on either the rotor or the catch. The latch includes multiple connection points for single or dual actuators, and a lifting block to align the assembly with a striker.

  • Patent number: 8850744
Abstract: A securing mechanism for a hinged sidelight panel. The securing mechanism includes a center latch bolt for latching the hinged sidelight panel and remote locking mechanisms for locking the hinged sidelight panel. A single lever handle is used to selectively retract the remote locking mechanisms and the latch bolt. At a first orientation of the handle, both the remote locking mechanisms and the latch bolt are engaged. At a second orientation of the handle, the latch bolt remains engaged, but the remote locking mechanisms retracted. At a third orientation, both the remote locking mechanisms and the latch bolt are disengaged. The orientation of the handle informs an observer whether the locks are engaged. In one embodiment, the full rotation is about 90°, enabling the use of longer lever handles without interference from door frames.

  • Patent number: 6212910
Abstract: A feeder tube assembly for a feeder bowl of a glass melting furnace forehearth. The feeder tube assembly has an horizontally extending elongate support arm, and a feeder tube that is carried by the support arm at a location near an end of the support arm. The feeder tube is held in place by a clamping ring that engages a flange of the feeder tube at an end of the feeder tube. The clamping ring is releasably held in engagement with the flange of the feeder tube by a plurality of latch mechanisms that are circumferentially spaced apart. Each latch mechanism has a lever with a rounded cam surface and a handle that extends away from the cam surface and is pivotally attached to a support member. The support member, in turn is pivotally attached to a fixed member, and pivoting of the pivoted support member relative to the fixed member is effective to swing the lever out of interfering relationship with the clamping ring to facilitate removal of the clamping ring.

  • Patent number: 5076620
Abstract: A flush bolt including override protection is disclosed for flush mounting on the inactive one of a pair of swinging doors. In one embodiment of the invention, an automatic flush bolt comprising a trigger member senses whether the active door is closed. If closed, the flush bolt assumes an engaged position securing a bolt into a securing surface. If open, the flush bolt assumes its disengaged position with the bolt retracted into the mechanism. In a second embodiment of the invention, a semi-automatic flush bolt is provided with a slotted member and a spring to bias the bolt toward the engaged position. When the door containing the mechanism is closed, the bolt may temporarily and automatically override the securing surface and engage the securing surface without damage to the mechanism, the door, or the door frame. Opening the door requires manual intervention through activation of a control member.

  • Patent number: 4348036
Abstract: A safety binding for cross country skis that is capable of releasing a ski boot when the binding is overstressed by forces acting in any direction. The binding includes a boot mounted toe piece capable of being mounted upon the skier's boot that has a pair of laterally opposed open faced sockets formed therein and a ski piece having a pair of ball-like members mounted upon coating scissor arms. The ball members are laterally receivable within the socket openings when the scissor arms are moved from an open position toward a closed position thereby securing the toe piece to the ski piece. A biasing means acts between the arms of the scissors to urge the ball members into the closed position and thus hold the boot of the skier to the ski with a predetermined amount of force. Overcoming the holding force in any direction will cause the scissors to open and thus release the boot from the ski.
