  • Patent number: 10500990
Abstract: Embodiments of a car seat include an outer protective shell, an inner seat, a suspension system connecting and permitting relative movement between the inner seat and the outer protective shell. The suspension system may include a plurality of deformable webs. Also, at least one padding element may be in contact with and interposed between the outer protective shell and the inner seat. In an accident, regardless of the direction in which the seat is facing and regardless of whether the result is a sudden acceleration and/or deceleration, the inner seat will move inside the frame, and the suspension system will absorb some, much, or all of the energy either by elastic or plastic deformation. Energy not absorbed by the suspension system may be absorbed by the inner seat itself and/or an anchor system used to connect the car seat to a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6805386
Abstract: A door lock (12) which is conceived in particular for use in motor vehicle doors has a rotary latch (14) and a closing aid (10) which acts on the latter and, with the aid of a drive, carries along the door to be closed in to the closed position. Known door locks having a closing aid have an increased space requirement and cannot readily be accommodated in structurally predetermined constructional spaces. The invention provides the drive of the closing aid such that it is separated structurally from the door lock (12) and provides a flexible drive element for transmitting force from the drive to the rotary latch (14). If appropriate, a deflection roller (26) may be provided and may be designed such that it is movable in order to bring about an auxiliary opening.

  • Patent number: 6170892
Abstract: There is disclosed an improvement in a latch for a gate which comprises a latch bar and a cooperating latch mechanism. The latch mechanism has a frame with a flange base for attachment to a gate post and a tongue with a slot to receive the latch bar that is pivotally mounted on the frame. A lever arm extends from the tongue and a gate latch pull is attached to the lever arm and extended through a bore in the gate post to permit operation of the latch from the opposite side of the gate. The improvement of this invention is a gate latch pull that is formed of a flexible plastic having a flexural strength (modulus) no less than about 5,000 psi and a thickness sufficient to permit the latch pull to flex and follow the arcuate movement of the lever arm while retaining sufficient stiffness to permit the pushing of the lever to overcome interference in closing the latch. Preferably the latch pull is provided with a snap retainer to secure one end to the latch tongue lever, and with finger grips at each end.

  • Patent number: 5193862
Abstract: An anti-theft latch mechanism is especially suitable for securing vending machines. According to the present invention, a control mechanism (such as a rotatable stud attached to a knob) includes a clutch arrangement by which the control mechanism remotely controls a latch portion. Thus, the control mechanism is not rigidly tied to the remote latch, thereby avoiding possible damage to the latch and relaxing design criteria for the mechanism as a whole. A latch portion prevents vandals or thieves from pushing the door either inward or outward as they attempt to gain entry to the inside of the vending machine. For this purpose, the latch provides a cove in which a catch in the side of the vending machine is enclosed at least partially on all four sides when the door is closed. This cove arrangement substantially prevents the latch from being shaken loose even when the vandal or thief jars the machine.
