The controller is in electrical communication with a motor actuator that is coupled to a latch arm. A signal from the controller activates the motor to move the latch arm. The latch arm is releasable from the latch bar to release the cap door.

The gate latch has a pair of side plates that are spaced apart to define a space that encloses a lever actuating mechanism and a hook plate. The hook plate has a hook member that engages the strike member of the gate. The lever actuating mechanism has a pair of lever arms, which can be accessed from either side of the gate, that move the hook plate upward to disengage the strike member. A lock receiving member at the bottom of the gate latch receives a padlock to lock the gate latch. The padlock can also be accessed from either side of the gate.

    Abstract: A quick release lock for a cover is provided. The cover may be a manhole cover for closing onto a manhole ring having a radially extended flange. The quick release lock mainly includes several angularly equal-spaced cross-shaped slots provided on the cover to communicate with through holes below them, and catch elements, push elements, and cotters in the same number as that of the cross-shaped slots. The catch element each is pivotally connected to and between two fixing plates provided at two opposite sides of each through hole. The cotter each is positioned in one cross-shaped slot and extended down into she through hole. The push element each is screwed on a bar portion of the cotter below the cover. When the cotter is depressed, the push element radially pushes the catch element outward to engage with a lower edge of the flange on the ring member and thereby firmly locks the cover to the ring member.

    Abstract: A latch mechanism is shown which utilizes a pair of latch dogs pivotally mounted on a base member. Each of the dogs has a curved end region which is adapted to contact a curved work surface of an associated stop member. The dogs are pivotable between a release position in which the curved end regions are apart from the work surfaces to allow relative movement between the base member and stop member and an engaged position in which the curved end regions contact the work surfaces. A positive locking action is achieved by providing the dog end regions with a radius of curvature which matches the radius of curvature of the stop member work surfaces, but offsetting the center point of the radius of curvature of the dogs from the pivot points of the dogs. In this way, the end regions and work surfaces fully mate in the engaged position, but are pulled fully apart when moving to the release position.

    Abstract: A dual latching mechanism is provided for latching two spaced locations of a flexible lid to a pair of similarly spaced anchors of a compartment to which the flexible lid is movably mounted. The latches are interconnected by a latch control which includes two rigid links each link having its outer end connected pivotally to a blocking dog and each having its inner end connected by way of an actuator pin to a key operated lock cylinder which is mounted on the flexible lid. The rigid links are connected so as to maintain axial rigidity for operating the two latches concurrently while having the required flexibility necessary to operate two latches on a flexible lid.
