Spring Retracted Patents (Class 292/69)
  • Patent number: 11059555
Abstract: A mounting assembly for improved latching of a watercraft trolling motor that includes a shaft assembly. The mounting assembly includes a pivot joint configured to be fixed relative to the watercraft. The mounting assembly further includes a swinging bracket assembly having: (a) a swinging bracket having a first end, a second end and a length, the first end being configured for attachment to the shaft assembly and the second end being rotatably attached to the pivot joint; and (b) a latch pin assembly including an elastic element and a latch pin mounted to the swinging bracket. The mounting assembly still further includes a stationary bracket configured to be fixed relative to the watercraft and having a protuberance and a sloped surface receiving the latch pin. Inadvertent removal of the latch pin from a sliding, latched relationship with the sloped surface is obstructed by the protuberance.

  • Patent number: 11052972
Abstract: A retainer clip is for attaching a cover to a track member on a marine vessel. The channel has opposing proximal and distal sidewalls, a closed inner end, and an open outer end. The retainer clip has an elongated body having a proximal leg configured for attachment to the cover and an opposite distal leg configured for insertion into the channel. Tensioning the proximal leg in a first tension direction causes the distal leg to pivot in the channel in a first pivot direction and engage with the distal sidewall so as to retain the retainer clip in the channel. Tensioning the proximal leg in a second direction causes the distal leg to pivot in the channel in an opposite, second pivot direction and disengage from the distal sidewall so as to allow the retainer clip to be removed from the channel.

  • Patent number: 8646815
Abstract: A gate latch system including a button assembly, a latch assembly, and a keeper assembly. The gate latch assembly can be opened from the side of the gate opposite the latch through the use of a spindle extending from a button assembly on one side of the gate to a latch assembly located on the opposite side of the gate and which includes a latch retention member. The latch assembly and button assembly are configured so that the spindle extends from the button assembly to the latch assembly through the gate opening such that there is no need to make a hole through the gate and/or covering to accommodate the spindle.

  • Patent number: 8250811
Abstract: A cane bolt is spring biased up to allow a movable barrier with which the cane bolt is engaged to move. The cane bolt can be pushed down into a strike hole to prevent movement of the barrier. To hold the cane bolt down, a pin on the cane bolt abuts a slotted stop on the barrier. To raise the cane bolt, the cane bolt is simply rotated so that the pin aligns with and thus passes through the slot, allowing the spring to urge the cane bolt up.

  • Patent number: 8186727
Abstract: The present invention is a door lock that eliminates the need for an additional deadbolt lock on a door. The present invention has a deadbolt built into the doorknob assembly. The deadbolt is put into place every time the door is closed. This eliminates the need of having to separately lock and unlock two locks, the first being the doorknob and the second being the deadbolt.

  • Patent number: 7452010
Abstract: A latch for use with a boat hatch including a housing having a well, a floor, and a flange mounted against the boat hatch. The housing has a boss with a bushing and a vertical bore. A slot extends transversely through the boss and the vertical bore. A pull shaft with an annular O-ring is mounted in the bushing bore. A rotation stop pin on the pull shaft will contact the slot, limiting the rotation to one-half turn. A latch bar projects outward from the pull shaft lower end. A D-shaped handle is pivotally mounted on the pull shaft upper end. A spring is disposed below the rotation stop, to bias the pull shaft downward. A lock shaft is mounted for rotation in the housing. A hook with a finger is attached to the lock shaft. A key rotates the hook into engagement with the second pin. The second pin, enclosed between the finger and the boss slot, prevents rotation of the pull shaft and unlatching of the latch.

  • Patent number: 6953209
Abstract: A compression latch with a folding handle for selectively holding a door closed. The latch includes a housing with a cup portion for receiving the handle in the folded down position such that the projection of the latch handle above the exterior surface of the door is minimized in the folded-down position. The handle functions to move a pawl in a combination of rotational and linear translational movements as the pawl is moved between latched and unlatched positions.

  • Patent number: 5732986
Abstract: A door lock has a base securable to a door or door frame, and a locking arm pivotally connected to the base and movable when the base is secured to the door or the door frame to a blocking position where the door is prevented from opening and a retracted position where the locking arm is retracted from the door locking position. The locking arm is biased to the retracted position to facilitate closing the door when the base is secured to the door or to the door frame. A locking device is slidably mounted on the base for sliding movement to a locking position in a direction parallel to the plane of the door to engage the locking arm and hold the locking arm in the blocking position against the biasing when the door is closed, thereby locking the door. The door is unlocked by sliding movement of the locking device to an unlocking position in a direction opposite to the first mentioned direction to become disengaged from the locking arm, whereby the biasing returns the locking arm to the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4717280
Abstract: A retaining and locking clamp, mounted onto a first apparatus, for retaining and locking a second apparatus to the first apparatus. The first apparatus has a plate which in turn includes an aperture. The clamp comprises an inner rod that has a first end portion and a second end portion, the second end portion being adapted to be received within the aperture of the first apparatus plate so as to mount the inner rod to the first apparatus. The clamp also includes an outer sleeve that is rotatably mounted onto the inner rod, the outer sleeve has a retaining and locking flange and a surface. The clamp further comprises a turn knob that is rotatably mounted onto the inner rod, the turn knob has a surface that is adapted to frictionally engage the outer sleeve surface, whereby rotating the turn knob causes the turn knob surface to frictionally engage the outer sleeve surface so as to permit the outer sleeve flange to retain the second apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4703960
Abstract: The latching bolt of a window lock is pivotally mounted on a slide to pivot between locked and unlocked positions. A reversible motor with a rotary drive shaft is adapted to reciprocate the slide outwardly and inwardly by means of a scotch yoke connection between the drive shaft and the slide, the scotch yoke being of the lost-motion type so as to permit the slide to shift independently of the drive. When the slide is shifted outwardly, the bolt is permitted to pivot to its unlocked position and, when the slide is shifted inwardly, the bolt is cammed to its locked position. A lever may be operated manually to unlock the bolt in the event there is a loss of power to the motor.

  • Patent number: 4639021
Abstract: A door lock for use particularly with sliding patio doors. The lock assembly includes a rotary actuator (door knob) connected to a shaft which drives a crank connected, in turn, to one or more spring-biased bolt rods and operable through the crank to shift the bolt rod to its spring-biased, door-locking position. Stops are positioned to stop the movement of the crank in the locking and unlocking positions of the bolt rod, respectively. Rotary interengaging means such as a pair of meshing gears releasably connect the crank to the shaft assembly. A latch maintains the spring-biased bolt rod releasably in its door-locking position when the gears are meshed. A trip disengages the gear when the bolt rod is in its spring-biased, door-locking position, thereby actuating automatic unlocking of the door.

  • Patent number: 3985380
Abstract: An overcenter type latch for relatively movable members includes a retainer of molded plastic secured to one member and having spaced recesses adjacent one end thereof and a striker adjacent the other end thereof. An operating handle has spaced abutments adjacent one end thereof received within the retainer recesses for pivotal movement of the handle between an overcenter latched position and an unlatched position. An elastomeric link is pivoted to the operating handle and to other member. The link is tensed when the handle is in latched position and extends between the spaced recesses and abutments. A manually operated latch integral with the handle cooperates with the striker to block movement of the handle to unlatched position unless the latch is manually released.
