Combined Dovetail And Keeper Patents (Class 292/DIG40)
  • Patent number: 5271649
Abstract: An over center draw latch with lock bolt action which performs the functions of both a bolt type latch and a draw type latch. The latch comprises a housing mounted on one panel, a lever rotatably mounted on the housing, a spring rotatably mounted on the lever and a keeper mounted on another panel. When the latch is fastened, the spring engages the keeper to thereby draw the panels together. In addition, a portion of the lever engages the keeper to provide a lock bolt action. In the closed position, the latch prevents relative movement of the panels in all directions.

  • Patent number: 5176417
Abstract: A tilt cab latch has a piston which is biased to cam on a rotor to capture and exert a preload force on a pin. The end of the piston is formed by cylindrical and conical surfaces which match respective internal cylindrical and angled cylindrical surfaces on the rotor. The conical and angled cylindrical surfaces cam on one another to exert the preload force on the pin, and the cylindrical surfaces provide positive locking against retrograde rotation of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5106134
Abstract: An improved latch housing comprising a striker receiving slot or recess opening through the latch housing for receiving a striker, (the latch housing for mounting a ratchet pivotable from an open position for receiving the striker to a closed position and a pawl for locking the ratchet in the closed (locked) position, the slot or recess having a mouth and two ends and being tapered from a broader portion (near the mouth) to a narrower portion (remote the mouth) intermediate its ends, the end of the recess proximate the broader tapered portion comprising a pair of parallel spaced walls extending towards the mouth from proximate the broader portion and the end of the recess proximate the narrower portion (remote the mouth) comprising a pair of spaced walls which are parallel to one another when the striker is secured in the striker receiving recess of the latch housing. The latch housing is for use with a tapered striker.

  • Patent number: 5050917
Abstract: A striker used in a lock device of a vehicle door has a U-shaped rod provided with an outside leg, an inside leg extending in parallel with the outside leg, and a connecting portion joining the ends of both legs. In order to strengthen the striker, the sectional area of the inside leg is larger than the outside leg, and the connecting portion has a wedge shape the thick portion thereof being placed at the inside portion. Thus, strength of the connecting portion to the inside leg is made larger than that of another connecting portion to the outside leg.

  • Patent number: 5044678
Abstract: A remotely actuated solenoid latch apparatus adapted for use in motor vehicle applications is disclosed. The solenoid latch apparatus includes a solenoid having an armature movable between a first position displaced from a pole piece to define a working air gap therebetween to a second position attracted toward the pole piece. A solenoid winding encircles the pole piece and the armature for attracting the armature toward the pole piece upon energization thereof. A latch member is associated with the movable armature for lockingly engaging a striker bar when the armature is in one position and releasably disengaging the striker bar when the armature is in the other position. The present invention is self-compensating to align the latch member relative to the striker bar, prior to engagement therewith, to compensate for alignment variation between the latch member and the striker bar.

  • Patent number: 4804876
Abstract: The cabinet comprises a case carrying a plurality of slidably mounted drawers. At the back of the drawers a latch bar is vertically oriented and pivotal between latch and unlatch positions. The bar has a flange which fits into keeper structure on a clip protruding from each drawer in the latch condition. A camming surface on each clip moves the latch bar to a latch position after one drawer is withdrawn so that none of the other drawers can be withdrawn. As the drawer is closed, another camming surface on the clip moves the latch bar back to an unlatch position. To insure alignment of the last mentioned camming surface with the latch bar, a slot is provided in the clip on each drawer which slot is aligned with an alignment flange attached to the case.

  • Patent number: 4773682
Abstract: A sash frame is locked to a stationary jamb by movable locking elements connected to an operating rod and cooperating with stationary locking elements. Both types of locking elements have at least one recess, one projection and at least one lateral support extension alongside the respective recess or projection. The recesses and projections are so constructed and arranged that they have a respective central axis extending in parallel to a frame plane defined by the jamb and sash frame in the closed state. The lateral support extensions have surfaces facing each other and extending substantially perpendicularly to the frame plate. The operating rod carrying the movable locking elements may be guided in a groove in the sash frame or in the jamb, whereby the stationary locking elements are connected to the jamb or to the sash frame respectively.

  • Patent number: 4435027
Abstract: Front and back doors of an apparatus cabinet have lips extending around to cover part of both cabinet sides. Both doors are hinged on one side member of the frame of the cabinet and each has a toothed tongue in the middle of its free end directed so as to slide into a dual latch mounted on the inside of the other frame member of the cabinet. In entering the latch, the door tongues are guided upwards to correct for the sag of the doors. The latch has a cross member with a detent on each end urged downward by a leaf spring and mounted on a pivot plate in a manner allowing the plate to slide upwards against the spring when both detents are pushed upwards by simultaneous closing of both doors. The doors are self-locking, whether closed individually or simultaneously. Release of the front door is performed by a finger cam, actuated from the outside, acting on the pivot plate, by means of a special wrench. The rear door is released from the inside after the rear door is opened.

  • Patent number: 4324435
Abstract: A pivotal lock member (27) is secured to an earthworking apparatus (10) and a plurality of lock stations (28,29,30) are connected to a mounting assembly (21) which supports the earthworking apparatus (10) for rotation. The apparatus (10) can be rotated to a plurailty of angular positions and must be held against rotation in each position. The lock member (27) pivots in and out of engagement with the lock stations (28,29,30) to allow rotation or locking of the earthworking apparatus (10). The lock assembly (26) holds the earthworking apparatus (10) securely against rotary motion but allows some limited radial motion of the apparatus in a plane co-incident with a line of axial force generated by the operation of the earthworking tool (19).

  • Patent number: 4165112
Abstract: A motor-vehicle door latch has an eye-type bolt formed of a U-section piece of sheet steel and having upper and lower sides tapered to each other. A latch housing mounted on the motor-vehicle door has an elastomeric guide forming an upwardly seat having a pair of relatively inclined sides that can fit complementarily over the bolt. A locking fork is pivotal in this latch housing to engage through a vertically throughgoing hole in the bolt and hold it tightly in place.
