    Abstract: A locking system comprises a lock mechanism including a casing structure adapted to be mounted to one of a door and a door frame and having a front plate with an aperture therein; a latch bolt mounted with respect to the casing structure for movement between a first position wherein a portion thereof extends from the front plate of the casing structure for latching engagement with the other of the door and door frame, and a second, retracted position wherein the same portion thereof is held out of position for said latching engagement. A deadlock member is mounted to the casing for movement between a blocking position wherein the deadlock member will prevent movement of the latch bolt to the second, retracted position, and a non-blocking position wherein the latch bolt is free to move to the retracted position. An operating disc is rotatably mounted coaxially with the latch bolt and coupled to rotate the latch bolt through a lost motion type of connection.

The door includes a handle hub lock having a hub locking plate around the handle hub, a protrusion extending from the locking plate, a bolt member having a recess adapted to receive the protrusion, a bolt biasing mechanism, and a biasing force reversal mechanism for causing the bolt member to move in a direction opposite to the direction in which the bolt biasing member moves. The biasing mechanism preferably includes a plunger extending from the leading door edge toward the door jamb and biasable thereby, during door closing, against the bolt to move it into the locked position, and a spring connected to each of the plunger and bolt member. In one embodiment, magnets magnetically bias the slide bolt member to the desired locked or unlocked position.

    Abstract: A reciprocatory device in the form of a roller door catch has a reciprocatory plunger slidable in a fixed tubular housing and retained therein by an adjustment member. The plunger is urged to a normal resting position by a compression return spring. The adjustment member has a stem portion which projects into a blind bore at the inner end of the plunger, and this stem has radial stub projections which engage with a helical rib providing a screw thread within said bore, with a clearance in the axial direction approximating to the normal range of plunger reciprocation on door opening and closure. The adjustment member has a head portion with a frusto-conical clutch face which frictionally engages a mating clutch face at the inner end of the housing.

    Abstract: A vehicle door lock operating mechanism wherein a reversible electric motor 6 drives a pivotally mounted sector gear 10 through a centrifugal clutch 7 and reduction gears 8, 9 and 32. The sector gear is coupled to the pivotal actuating lever 2 of a lock mechanism 1 by means (ex. slot 13 and guide pin 14) which permit the free travel or play of the actuating lever over a distance equal to its stroke between the locked and unlocked positions. A manual operating knob 3 is also coupled to the lever 2, and a spring 15 biases the sector gear 10 back into a neutral or middle position whenever the motor 6 is deenergized, whereby low force manual operation may be performed independently of the sector gear and reduction gears. The centrifugal clutch, when disengaged in response to the motor deenergization, enables the spring 15 to easily drive the sector gear back into its neutral position.

    Abstract: A door lock having two escutcheon plates clamped against the sides of a door, two mortise cylinders mounted in coaxial relation in the escutcheon plates and each having a rotatable key plug and an actuating arm on the inner end of the plug, a bolt slidable between extended and retracted positions, and a toggle joint bolt-operating mechanism actuated by the actuating arms on the key plugs. This mechanism includes a bolt link pivotally connected to the inner end of the bolt, and an actuating link between the ends of the key plugs having abutment means for coupling and uncoupling of the arms and the actuating link which is urged in toward the locked and unlocked positions by a toggle spring movable into oppositely over-center positions. The abutment means comprise two spaced tabs defining a slot into which the actuating arm is eccentrically extended and retracted during rotation of the key plug through full locking and unlocking revolutions.
