  • Patent number: 8235438
Abstract: A gripper mechanism for machines, robots and manipulation devices, comprising at least one moving gripping finger, driven by a driveshaft of multiple parts, a crank, belt or gear shaft, wherein the centering of the parts relative to each other and the transmission of the torque from a driving part to the next part, up to the gripping finger, is achieved by means of axial toothing, preferably a pinion gearing with pins and drillings. The driveshaft is preferably provided with a carrying support bearing. As a result of the splitting of the driveshaft, it is possible to cast the housing in one piece with two cavities for housing the operating unit and the transmission. The gripping finger or the lever driving the gripping finger are externally fixed to the driveshaft in an axial manner.

Abstract: A robot hand converts the longitudinal extending and retracting motion of an actuating rod of a linear actuator into opening and closing motion of left and right first links via a link mechanism. The link mechanism includes left and right middle links composed of coil springs. When the left and right first links come in contact with an object to be gripped, the middle links elastically deform and expand, and the force gripping the object gradually increases due to the elastic deformation of the middle links. It is possible to prevent a large gripping force from acting suddenly on the object and to prevent the object from being deformed, damaged, or otherwise suffering harmful effects.

  • Patent number: 8092357
Abstract: A spindle gripping device and method for use in a CNC machine for re-orienting a workpiece. The gripping device includes an attachment portion, a translational driver, and a gripping portion. The attachment portion mechanically attaches the gripping device to a spindle of the CNC machine, and allows a transfer of the rotation of the spindle to the gripping device. The translational driver translates the input rotational force into a linear movement. The gripping portion uses the linear movement to open and close claws of the gripping device. A controller monitors and controls the operation of the CNC machine, so as to control an exchange of the working tool with the gripping device, and to control actuation and subsequent movement of the gripping device to reposition the workpiece into a desired orientation.

  • Patent number: 8061751
Abstract: An extendable tool having an internal drive assembly is disclosed. The extendable components of the internal drive assembly are two, or more, telescoping drive shafts each having an alignment structure. The alignment structure ensures that the drive shafts generally maintain their circumferential alignment relative to each other, i.e. the shafts rotate together and maintain their orientation, while allowing the drive shafts to slide axially relative to each other. In one embodiment the drive shafts have a non-circular cross-section, and more preferably, a square cross-section. Each inner drive shaft has a cross-sectional area that is slightly smaller than the next larger outer drive shaft. Thus, the drive shafts may slide axially relative to each other. However, when the drive shafts are rotated, the non-circular shape causes the inner drive shaft and the larger outer drive shaft to engage each other and rotate together.

  • Patent number: 7845696
Abstract: A manually operable weed remover consists of a cluster of pivotable and rotatable spikes attached to a handle. When positioned over the center of a weed and downward pressure is applied, either by pushing on a bar handle or stepping on a foot rest, a bottom flange is forced up by the ground surface as the spikes are forced into the ground around the weed. The spikes are directed through apertures in the moveable flange and movement of the flange causes the spikes to close around the root of the weed. The insertion motion of the spikes further causes the spike mounting device to rotate relative to the handle and the weed. Thus, as the spikes are being inserted into the ground, the spikes rotate thereby separating the weed root from the adjacent ground. The weed may then be pulled from the ground by upward pressure on the tool.
