The fastening mechanism is used to fully secure the tether around the good in order to engage the apparatus onto the good. The guiding mechanism is used to guide the tether into and out of the structural channel in order to form a loop that can be wrapped around the good. The tether may be a rope, a chain, a band, or a wire.

The user's hand is passed through the loop on the side facing the user and the user lets the weight of the object pull the loop onto the back of the user's wrist. The relatively short segments and joints prevent the strap from expanding too far or tearing when heavy loads are carried. The gaps separating the segments reduce a weight bearing surface contacting a user's shoulder and distributes the stress at the point of contact throughout the strap. In response to the load, the segments expand. This enlarges the gap which further decreases the point of contact between the segments and the shoulder. The strap also has a pad underlying the segments for cushioning the shoulder. A sleeve may be fixedly or removably attached to the segments and the pad.

Preferrably, the length of the strap is about 133 percent the height of the individual using the sling. This dimensioning of the strap permits the individual using the sling to predominately employ the individual's leg muscles, rather than the individual's back muscles, to drag the hose.

    Abstract: A band is attached in an inverted U-shape to a luggage carrier or any other similar carrier. A unique clamping arrangement permits the length of the band to be adjusted vertically to accommodate the height of a person using the carrier. Further, the lateral distance between the two legs of the U-shaped band can be adjusted to accommodate the width of the shoulders of a person transporting the carrier.

    Abstract: Carrying apparatus for engaging a hook portion of a hanger to aid in carrying garments supported on the hanger. The carrying apparatus includes a handle having a cord inserted through a vertical hole in the handle; the hole extending in a direction perpendicular to the handle lengthwise axis. The cord includes a looped end portion for engaging the hanger hook to suspend the hanger from the hook when being carried. When not being carried, the cord is pulled upwardly through the handle hole so that the loop is partially engaged within the handle hole and is tightened around the hanger hook. The cord is secured within a slotted portion of the handle to secure the loop tightly around the hanger hook.

    Abstract: A device for hand-carrying articles includes a metal carrying handle and an elongated carrying strap. The handle has a pair of spaced apart, elongated side sections which extend along and are positioned on opposite sides of handle axis. The side sections are interconnected at their upper ends by a handgrip portion which extends transversely to the axis, at their lower ends by a lower crossbar which has an elongated slot formed therethrough, and at longitudinally intermediate portions thereof by a central crossbar to which is anchored an end portion of the carrying strap. To carry an article, the strap is looped around the article to define a carrying loop portion of the strap. The free end of the strap is then passed over the lower handle crossbar and then back through the crossbar slot to define in the strap a strap connecting loop portion. When the handle is lifted, the connecting loop portion is frictionally locked to the lower crossbar to prevent enlargement of the strap carrying loop.

The free end of the strap has a bar which can be engaged in a slot so as to form the strap into a closed loop. In use, the strap is passed through a convenient part of the load before the bar at the end of the strap and the slot are engaged. When the grip is lifted to lift the load, the weight of the load and the configuration of the slot will keep the end of the strap engaged so that the load can be carried securely and comfortably.

Variable extension rods may be provided on either end of the main brace to extend its length and capacity as needed. The straps would be positioned at either end of the main brace, or the extension rods, and between them as needed. A flexible material may extend the length of the main brace to replace the straps, and wrap around, hold, secure, and protect the musical instrument stands.

Then the sticks may be removed leaving the flexible sheet formed into an envelope that encloses the material and so forming a bag containing the material for disposal.
