  • Patent number: 4479674
Abstract: A device for conveniently and securely carrying elongated items has a pair of hingeable members hingeably connected to each other at one of their ends. At least one of the pair of hingeable members comprises an inner plate and an outer plate. The inner plate can be releasably secured to the outer plate so that the inner and outer plates define a cavity which receives an elongated item. A handle is provided on at least one of the hingeable members at the end thereof opposite the hinge. A latch is provided on the two hingeable members and cooperates to releasably fasten the members together in a side-by-side relationship to define a closed position of the device. In this way, elongated items can be carried securely and conveniently. The device can be opened from a closed position to attain two configurations, namely, a fully open, horizontal position and a ski-insertion position.

  • Patent number: 4461506
Abstract: Improved methods are described for assembling any combination of equipment, such as boots, skis and poles, into releasable assemblage for optionally displaying, merchandizing, storing, carrying, transporting, securing and, or, locking. The arrangements disclosed provide for automatic adjustment to accommodate any size skis, boots and, or, poles resulting from the cooperative relationship between each of the members. The hand grasp has disposed therewith a manipulatable adjustment and securing member snap fastened therewith and including oppositely disposed pivotally mounted boot retainers each snap-in fastened for rotatable motion therewith. The improvement includes an upper pole-lower boot retainer member cooperating with an upper ski-lower pole retainer member both of which are slidably supported on a centrally located column member. The column member may be bipartitely constructed in two halves and snap fastened together with the upper cap and lower ski support retainer members.

  • Patent number: 4438967
Abstract: Apparatus and method for keeping a bag opening closed and providing a handle for carrying the bag. A frame is provided with a handle and a bag engaging portion. The frame is placed over the bag after the opening is closed and the bag engaging portion is placed into position to maintain a portion of the bag against the frame. The frame is then re-oriented, turning the bag back on itself to provide a safe, secure handle for the bag while maintaining it in a closed condition. The bag engaging portion of the frame also has an orientation at which the handle can be used for carrying tied packages.

  • Patent number: 4425000
Abstract: This invention relates to a collapsible fire hose carrier having handles in connection with carrying and storing rolled fire hoses. The collapsible fire hose carrier consists of a base and two side pieces or rigid sheet material. In its uncollapsed state, the carrier holds the rolled fire hose on the base and is fastened between the two sides by means of a quick release mechanism, such as a seat belt device. When the seat belt is released the carrier's sides collapse openly and the hose is in a ready position to be unrolled for use in a fire.

  • Patent number: 4369575
Abstract: A tote device for an article, such as a chainsaw, having a main body and a member projecting from one side of the body, comprises a base for supporting the body when at rest. The base is formed with an upwardly open recess configured to receive at least a portion of the body. A scabbard is mountable on the member to enclose and protect at least a portion of it. A first linking arrangement links the scabbard, when mounted on the member, to the base in the region of the one side of the body and a second linking arrangement links the base to the body, when received in the recess, at a location remote from the one side. Accordingly, when the body and member are lifted, the scabbard is also lifted. Further, interaction of the scabbard and body with the base, through the first and second linking arrangements, also lifts the base.
