Patent number: 5615921Abstract: The present invention features a shopping bag handle that is ergonomically designed for easily carrying heavily-ladened shopping bags. The handle is substantially straight with a slight convex arc along its underside. The convex arc along the mid-section of the handle provides an ergonomic effect that conforms to the grip of a hand. An eye-loop is located on each distal end of the carrying handle. The loops of the shopping bag are easily threaded onto the eye-loops because of the downwardly-facing geometry of the latter. The central axis of the handle passes substantially through the contact points between the respective eye-loops of the handle and the loops of the shopping bag, thus reducing the moment of inertia between the middle portion of the handle and its distal ends. This reduced moment of inertia provides for a more stable carrying handle, substantially eliminating the tendency of a shopping bag to sway or rock about the handle.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1995Date of Patent: April 1, 1997Inventors: Eugene Marley, Gerhard Hofmann

The bag carrier is comprised of a horizontal upper handle section 26 (FIG. 1) connected to a horizontal lower hook support section 30 (FIG. 1) by connecting vertical members 28 and 29 (FIG. 1). A plurality of hook bases 31 (FIG. 1) and hook sections 32 (FIG. 1) extend down from horizontal lower hook support section 30 (FIG. 1). Areas are included on the surface of the carrier which are unlikely to be handled or rubbed excessively during use, allowing for preservation of important indicia, such as bar codes and magnetic strips. Multiple hooks on the bag carrier allow for bags to be attached or removed from the carrier one at a time without tangling.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1994Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Inventor: Peter C. Patent number: 5549339Abstract: A lifting device (100) having two restraining devices (102) coupled to a handle (106) by a cord (104). The restraining devices (102) receive a cylindrical object such as a gas cylinder (110) and lifting of the handle (106) tensions the cord (104) and causes the restraining devices (102) to clamp onto the gas cylinder (110). Accordingly, the gas cylinder (110) can be conveniently lifted and carried, and, when the gas cylinder (110) is lowered onto its side, is inhibited from rolling. In another embodiment, the restraining devices (102) are independently secured about the gas cylinder (110) by securing devices (27). Also, a cleat may be used to maintain the clamping force of the restraining devices (102) onto the gas cylinder (110).Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1994Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Inventor: Robert G.
