Patent number: 12168596Abstract: Simultaneously oppositely rotating sheaves, or a chain fall, has a two sheaves upon a hexagonal axle. The first sheave receives a first line clockwise and the second sheave receives a second line counterclockwise. Upon turning the axle, the sheaves handle the lines oppositely. A signal unit regulates power delivered from a power unit to at least one motor. The power unit is preferably a battery or alternatively another source. The motor turns a gearbox that engages the axle cooperating with the sheaves. The chain fall includes an anti-two block per line. Preferably, a pulley has two outer plates and two inner plates on stubs with the first line in the center and the two second lines between an inner plate and an outer plate. A first plate and a spaced away second plate contain the components of the invention in compact form for usage by a crane.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2021Date of Patent: December 17, 2024Inventor: Steven A. Patent number: 8857873Abstract: A sling system comprises a plurality of sling units each including a synthetic fibrous sling and a roller unit which has one or more spool-shaped rollers. The system provides for lifting a load in equilibrium and maintaining the load in that position or be rotated or tilted between horizontal and vertical positions. The system provides for a plurality of attachment points of the sling units to the load, and the sling units may be set up as a single array or a multiple array depending on the type of load being lifted, transported and positioned. Endless and continuous loop synthetic slings and multiple roller units are used in sling units and provide for uniform and equal distribution of the load throughout the sling system. The spool-shaped rollers may be molded of a rigid plastics material with each roller having end flanges to confine the synthetic sling.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2013Date of Patent: October 14, 2014Inventor: Robert J. Patent number: 7963579Abstract: A bottom block assembly includes a block having a central vertical axis, a hook secured to the block for attaching a load to the block, a first pair of sheaves rotatably attached to the block, a first rope reeved about the first pair of sheaves, a second pair of sheaves rotatably attached to the block, and a second rope reeved about the second pair of reeves. The first and second pairs of sheaves are each equally spaced about the central vertical axis. The first pair of sheaves are located higher on the block than the second pair of sheave so that a portion of the first rope located between the first pair of sheaves crosses over a portion of the second rope located between the second pair of sheaves. If either rope fails, the other rope ensures the block remains level with a full load attached to the hook.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2007Date of Patent: June 21, 2011Assignee: MHE Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Steven K. Patent number: 7497492Abstract: A hoist for positioning a load (40) includes a plurality of lift cylinders (15), a plurality of position sensors, a plurality of electronically controlled valves, a user input device (22), and a hoist controller (20). Each of the hydraulic hoist cylinders is coupled at one end to the hoist and at an opposite end to the load at a lifting point (45). Each of the position sensors is associated with one of the hoist cylinders and operable to provide position data for the associated hoist cylinder. The electronically controlled valves are hydraulically coupled to the hoist cylinders for extending and retracting the associated hoist cylinders. The user input device is operable by a user to specify load data. The hoist controller is operable to receive the load data from the input device and the position data from the position sensors and in response thereto to control the electronically controlled valves so as to position the load according to the load data.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2005Date of Patent: March 3, 2009Assignee: Actuant CorporationInventors: Jesus Gonzalez, Luis Sordo
