Abstract: A hydraulic propulsion horizontal directional coring device includes a casing pipe, a coring tube assembly and a conversion adapter. Both the casing pipe and the coring tube assembly coaxially set within the casing pipe are tubular. The conversion adapter, having a cylindrical structure fitted with the casing pipe, is coaxially set at a back side of the coring tube assembly and is slidably connected with an inner wall of the casing pipe. Under an action of an external force, the conversion adapter pushes the coring tube assembly to move along an axial direction of the casing pipe till a front end of the coring tube assembly extends out of or retracts into the casing pipe. The conversion adapter and the coring tube assembly have a first channel and a second channel axially provided therein, respectively. The first channel is connected with the second channel.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for plugging a well during subterranean operations is disclosed. Specifically, a mechanical release packer plug assembly is disclosed. The mechanical release packer plug assembly includes a debris chamber and is releasably engaged with a packer of a suitable packer assembly.
Abstract: An expandable wirefinder (60) for locating a wire downhole comprises a sleeve (62) and a dual collet assembly (72). The dual collet assembly (72) has first and second collet members (78, 82) each having plurality of collet fingers (80, 84). The dual collet assembly (72) is slidable relative to the sleeve (62) to operate between running and finding positions. In the running position, the first collet member (78) is partially disposed within the sleeve (62) with its collet fingers (80) inwardly radially biased by the sleeve (62) and the second collet member (82) is disposed within the first collet member (78) with its collet fingers inwardly (84) radially biased by the sleeve (62). In the finding position, the collet fingers (80) of the first collet member (78) radially expand to form gaps therebetween and the collet fingers (84) of the second collet member (82) radially expand into the gaps.
Abstract: A junk basket comprises a sleeve sized to fit within a well bore. The sleeve has a bore therethrough, an internal latch at its top end for connection to a complementary retrieval tool having an external latch. A basket floor is movable axially in the bore between a first position intermediate the axial length of the sleeve, and a second position resting on a retaining shoulder at the bottom of the sleeve. In a well bore, the basket floor is supported at the first position, preferably on a retrievable bridge plug, and debris is collected in the defined volume above the floor. When the basket is lifted during retrieval, the basket floor falls to the second position, increasing the collection volume, loosening the debris and loosening the basket in the well bore for ease of retrieval. Further, a novel method of jointly deploying a junk basket and bridge plug results. The basket is connected to the plug and a setting/insertion tool passes through the basket's bore and through a port in the basket floor.
