Abstract: A resettable mechanism and a method of controlled actuation of a hydraulically operated downhole tool to allow selective operation of the downhole tool in a wellbore. The resettable mechanism provides an inner sleeve member which is longitudinally moveable between a first and second position which opens and closes a fluid pathway to at least one actuation port on the downhole tool. Movement of the inner sleeve member is controlled via an indexing mechanism operated by drop balls. An embodiment of a casing recovery system is described mechanism operated wherein a downhole pulling tool is selectively actuated so as to prevent operation of the pulling tool while a hydraulically operated casing cutter is cutting casing.
Abstract: Provided is a slotted orientation apparatus for use with a keyed running tool. The slotted orientation apparatus, in one aspect includes a tubular having a wall thickness (t), and a slot extending at least partially through the tubular, the slot having an angled portion coupled to an axial portion, wherein the slot radially extends around the tubular X degrees, wherein X is 180 degrees or less.
Abstract: Techniques for removing a tubular from a wellbore include running a downhole tool on a downhole conveyance into a wellbore formed from a terranean surface into a subterranean formation; activating a piston sub-assembly to repeatedly move pistons to contact a portion of a casing installed in the wellbore to at least de-bond a cement layer installed between the portion of the casing and the subterranean formation from the portion of the casing; activating a cutting sub-assembly to move a cutting blade to cut through the portion of the casing adjacent the de-bonded portion of the cement layer; activating a hanger sub-assembly to move a set of slips into contacting engagement with the cut portion of the casing; and running the downhole tool on the downhole conveyance out of the wellbore with the cut portion of the casing engaged with the set of slips.

Abstract: A retrievable bridge plug having an internal bypass passage and external retrieving lugs, and a retrieving tool therefor. When the bypass passage is sealed, both the top and bottom openings of the bypass passage are closed, preventing debris from entering the bypass passage through either opening. A directing shroud is provided adjacent the top opening of the bypass passage, such that when the bypass passage is opened, part of any fluid flowing uphole through the bypass passage is directed over the retrieving lugs, clearing them of any debris and facilitating latching by the retrieving tool. The shroud also prevents debris from packing around the top opening of the bypass passage. A retrieving tool is also provided, which retrieving tool, through cooperation of a sleeve having a “J” shaped slot, and an inner latch sleeve having a straight slot, locks the retrieving tool onto the retrieving lugs.
