  • Patent number: 4634172
Abstract: A recreational vehicle which has a first longitudinally extending rail C-shaped in transverse cross-section is combined with a metal cover for a roll-up awning having a second longitudinally extending rail C-shaped in transverse cross-section. A waterproof connector between the vehicle and the metal cover includes a pair of rods, each rod being capable of fitting within one of the first and second C-shaped rails, a synthetic organic resin strip wrapped around each rod forming a flexible multi-ply connection between the rods extending substantially the entire length thereof and forming a watertight hinge therebetween. Water is then prevented from flowing between the recreational vehicle and the metal cover for the roll-up awning when the awning is extended and the synthetic organic resin strip is under tension connecting the recreational vehicle and the roll-up awning metal cover.

  • Patent number: 4465316
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for the attachment and storage of a collapsible structure (12) to a roof of a recreational vehicle is disclosed. The apparatus (10) includes a guide means (11) fastened to a container (35). Roller means (13) is fastened to the collapsible structure (12) to allow for slidably moving the collapsible structure on the guide means (11). To remove the collapsible structure (12) from the container (35) when in a stored position, the collapsible structure (12) is slid along the guide means (11) until the collapsible structure (12) is outside the container (35). The collapsible structure (12) is then allowed to rotate downward and the collapsible structure (12) is then unfolded. The roller means (13) is releaseably attached to the guide means (11) to provide a free-standing unit. In a first embodiment, the container (35) is constructed for an add-on attachment to the roof of a recreational vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4457553
Abstract: A portable shower mountable on a van or similar vehicle wherein a shower curtain is hung from a U-shaped frame which is adjustable in width and telescopes inwardly into parallel tubes mounted near opposite lengthwise rain gutters of a van roof. The parallel tubes are held in place by cross-tensioned straps, pulling against brackets secured to the rain gutters. An opaque shower curtain is suspended from the U-shaped frame by snap fasteners and has a lengthwise slide fastener near one end of the curtain for ingress and egress into the room formed by the curtain. A removable shelf is supported in the room from the rain gutter and supports a water bottle in proximity to the gutter for showering. A fabric self-supporting shower pan is provided over the ground beneath the shelf with the forward end of the pan hung by hooks from the rear bumper of the vehicle for draining the pan into a receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4195875
Abstract: A portable entranceway carpet for a recreational vehicle comprises a carpet for the entranceway or doorway of a recreational vehicle and a storage container for the carpet mounted at a convenient location on the exterior of the vehicle, such that the carpet is stored outside the recreational vehicle at all times, and it is not necessary to bring the dirty carpet into the vehicle after it has been used in camping. In one aspect of the invention, the container is mounted under a door sill at the side of the recreational vehicle and includes a spring biased roller for supporting the carpet in the container. The roller can be unrolled from the container through a slot in the side thereof, and a latch mechanism holds the roller at a desired extended position. The latch mechanism is manually releasable to automatically retract the carpet into the container. Brushes mounted along the slot in the container automatically remove dirt and debris from the carpet when it is retracted into the container.

  • Patent number: 4191418
Abstract: A recreational vehicle such as a truck camper is shown with a modular design of a multi-sided awning comprising at least two separate awning panels. One edge of each panel is adapted to be supported on one side of the camper at the roof line. One awning panel has an extension of the size of the other awning panel to form an L-shaped awning. A zipper fastens the coextensive edges of the two panels together to form a unitary awning. A third panel may be added on the other side to form a U-shaped awning. The addition of a fourth panel at the front would provide an awning completely encircling the vehicle.
