Abstract: The single-cell partition forms a barrier between front and rear passenger areas of a vehicle and provides access to a portion of the rear passenger area by occupants of the front passenger area who are not in custody. In addition, the single-cell partition protects and secures custodial occupants contained therein from non-custodial occupants present in the additional available space in the rear passenger area while maintaining a method to rapidly remove a side window assembly to provide access to the custodial passenger. The single-cell partition also incorporates additional features such as a roof bracing plate to increase the rigidity of the structure between the front and rear wall, a roof plate cutout to provide light to the custodial passenger and a head support for the custodial passenger.

The second bracket is attached to the bracket rod and extends perpendicularly away from the bracket rod. When the first bracket contacts the second bracket, forward swing of the accessory toward the passenger seating area is limited.

Abstract: A vehicle seat carpet backer assembly includes a carpet piece and resin/fiber material joined and molded to form a resin/fiber backer panel of a defined shape. A flexible toe-kick portion is provided a seamless transition between the upper carpet portion of the resin/fiber, upper carpet, panel portion and the lower carpet portion of the flexible toe-kick portion. A method includes providing a carpet piece cut to a size and shape and a sized resin/fiber panel material. The resin/fiber panel material is heated and placed with a top section of the carpet in a molding press to fuse them together. A shaped assembly is then formed with flanges which are inserted in channels of a seat. A polypropylene reinforcement sheet is attached to a lower section of the carpet that was not subjected to the molding press. Elastic bands are sewn to the lower edge of the backer assembly.

Abstract: A barrier system for deterring movement of people, pets and things from the rear of a vehicle into the forward seats of a vehicle includes a body. A plurality of mounting brackets are secured to the body and engaged by mounting members or straps. A back wall of the body may be constructed of a heavy-duty fabric and may also include a pocket or cup holder. In operation, the body is positioned in the passenger compartment in the space between two seats (e.g., the front driver and passenger seats or, in a large vehicle, between second row rear passenger seats). The mounting members are used to support the body in position. Once in position, the body deters the forward movement of persons, pets and things from the rear seats and into, for example, the driver's seat.
