Patent number: 5415452Abstract: A heel saving device has a first straight part underlying an accelerator pedal of a vehicle and a second bulbous or circular part that is integral to the first part and which extends out from under the pedal towards the driver. The heel of the driver's shoe rests atop the bulbous second part when the vehicle is being operated, and protects the heel from abrasion by the floorboard. A chemical is added to the bulbous second part to prevent rubbing off of heel coloring, and a double-sided adhesive secures the device into position. In a second embodiment, a first straight part overlies a second straight part and a bulbous first part overlies a bulbous second part that has an adhesive-saving central opening formed in it.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1994Date of Patent: May 16, 1995Inventor: Deborah Thompson

Patent number: 5312151Abstract: This invention relates to protective devices for placement under the heel of a vehicle driver's footwear. In particular the invention discloses a protector pad device that elevates the back of the driver's boot or shoe above the floor of the vehicle to prevent the heel from contacting or remaining in any mud, snow and water located on the vehicle floor. The device is releasably attached to the vehicle floor or mat with mechanically adhesive strips. The device has a extended contoured depression to guide the driver's foot into proper placement for safety and ease of pivotting of the foot from accelerator pedal to brake pedal during the operation of the vehicle. The device is thickened on the side that is to be located away from the center of the vehicle in order to provide a more level platform for the boot's heel in the usual situation where the vehicle's floor slopes down from the center of the vehicle out toward the driver's side door.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1993Date of Patent: May 17, 1994Inventor: John Krahn

Patent number: 5230398Abstract: The invention is an improvement in a mobile, operator-controlled machine (a crawler tractor, for example) which has a control-related panel such as an instrument panel. The improvement comprises a generally planar, plate-like member mounted for pivoting movement between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the plate protects the panel and in the second position, the plate provides an operator foot rest. That plate surface contacted by the operator's foot has a roughened, "anti-slip" portion. A stop device supports the plate against foot pressure and includes a frictionally-engaging socket and plunger to prevent the plate from "bounding" or bouncing as the machine travels.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1992Date of Patent: July 27, 1993Assignee: Case CorporationInventor: Claude M. Patent number: 4991900Abstract: A floor covering or floor mat is disclosed for use with an automotive vehicle having a floor and control pedals positioned at the front of the floor. The floor mat includes a plurality of steps which extend laterally across the floor of the vehicle rearwardly of the vehicle control pedals. The steps decrease in height rearwardly from the control pedals by a preset depth and each step has a preset width which extends longitudinally with respect to the vehicle. Both the preset depth and preset width of the steps are selected so that, with the operators's shoe heel positioned on one step and the sole in engagement with one control pedal, a back of the operator's shoe is spaced upwardly from the step rearwardly adjacent the step on which the operator's heel is positioned to protect the back of the shoe from scuffing.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1989Date of Patent: February 12, 1991Inventor: A. Patent number: 4726438Abstract: A foot-supporting body in a motor vehicle is provided which is capable of supporting both feet of a passenger while reducing the intrusion depth, reducing the change in intrusion speed and performing deformation work. The foot-supporting body is made as a pure hard-foam moulded body which--arranged on the passenger/driver side of the end wall--extends beyond the left-hand foot-placement area at least as far as the area covered by the brake pedal. The inherent rigidity of the foot-supporting body, as viewed in the loading direction, which can be permanently deformed, is below that of the allocated area of the end wall. Polystyrene--or polyurethane--foamed plastic, with a lower volumetric-weight limit of about 20 g/dm.sup.3 is preferably used as the moulded body material in certain exemplary embodiments.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1986Date of Patent: February 23, 1988Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Guenter Stuertz, Rudolf Nock, Egon Katz, Falk Zeidler, Alban Bossenmaier

Patent number: 4546993Abstract: An adjustable motorcycle passenger floorboard is attached at either side of a motorcycle frame below the rear seat. The device has a cylindrical rail having a brace at either end. The braces have slotted bolt holes for allowing the device to be bolted to the frame. A split clamp is attached around the cylindrical rail. The clamp, when loosened, can be slid between the braces of the cylindrical rail for allowing a continuous adjustment of the floorboard. The floorboard is attached to the clamp by a bar which can be rotated about its axis in a notched recess in the clamp for adjusting the attitude of the floorboard relative to the motorcycle. There are two adjustments in the device; one for adjusting the floorboard in a fore and aft position relative to the frame, and the other for adjusting the attitude or rake of the floorboard relative to the frame.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1983Date of Patent: October 15, 1985Inventor: George R.
