Rear Seat Patents (Class 296/85)
  • Patent number: 5211718
Abstract: A convertible motor vehicle is provided with a wind-deflecting cover which covers the space behind a front row of seats at the top. A windscreen is secured on the cover and, in the operative position, projects approximately vertically from the level of the upper edge and can be lowered into an out-of-use position. The windscreen is formed by a roller blind having a winding-up roller fixed at a forward boundary edge of the cover. An alternative arrangement for accommodating a windscreen on the cover in the out-of-use position forms a single unit with the cover which has two panels resting one upon the other and arranged to be swivelled open at a hinge. Opposite to this hinge, the windscreen is swivellably fixed at a forward boundary edge of the lower panel and can be swiveled in between these panels.

  • Patent number: 5195799
Abstract: A convertible has a windscreen arranged behind a row of seats and extending upwards in the operating position approximately perpendicularly between two adjustable side panes. The panes are height-adjustable on a path which is curved with respect to the vehicle passenger compartment and can be lowered into an out-of-use position in the direction of the vehicle floor. The panes are also adjustable with auxiliary force actuation, and an entrainer which acts between a side pane and the windscreen is arranged on at least one of the side panes. By means of the entrainer, the position of the windscreen can be changed in accordance with the movement of the side pane. Thus, it is possible to compensate the transverse path of the side pane with respect to the windscreen by way of the entrainer.

  • Patent number: 5061332
Abstract: For replacement of a rear window pan (2), which has become unusable, in the folding hood (1) of a convertible a replacement pane (6) is provided of which the encircling frame (7) is provided at its inner side with a hot-melt adhesive (9). Worked into the encircling frame (7) are electrical resistance heating wires (10) which can be subjected to current to soften the hot-melt adhesive (9) to enter an adhesive bond with a remaining edge region (5) of the old pane (2). Another pane replacement can be carried out simply in that the hot-melt adhesive (9) is again softened, the fitted replacement pane removed and replaced by a new one of the same type.

  • Patent number: 4795667
Abstract: The present invention relates to a window assembly including a transparent sheet having a layer of retention material adhered thereto, and a method and apparatus for producing such a window assembly. The apparatus includes at least two cooperating mold sections having facing surfaces defining a chamber for receiving the transparent sheet which can be shaped for use as a vehicle backlight. A seal is positioned about a periphery of a predetermined area on a surface of the transparent sheet on which the film is to be formed. The seal, the predetermined surface area of the transparent sheet and the mold define a forming cavity into which is injected a thermosetting polyurethane material. The material is at least partially cured in the cavity. Thereafter, the window assembly is removed from the mold chamber with a polyurethane retention shield adhered to the predetermined surface area.

  • Patent number: 4109044
Abstract: A window formed of a glass sheet having a combined electrical heating circuit and bending circuit imprinted thereon. The heating circuit comprises a series of longitudinally extending conducting lines interconnecting spaced bus bars. The bending circuit includes resistance elements in the form of electrically conducting paths extending transversely of the sheet along the lines about which the sheet is to be sharply bent and which intersect the longitudinal conducting lines of the heating circuit. Interruptions are formed along the bus bars of the heating circuit in a manner isolating the latter from the bending circuit during the formation of sharp bends in the glass sheet.
