To Nonoccupant Support Device Patents (Class 297/129)
  • Patent number: 4456284
Abstract: A support strap convertible from a skier seat to a ski carrier and vice versa, the strap comprising pockets at the ends of the strap for receiving a pair of ski pole handles whereby the strap is adapted to be suspended between generally upright ski poles to define a skier seat. The pockets include ski straps adapted to define loops into which the hands of the skier in the skier seat can be inserted for stability. The support strap is capable of use as a ski carrier by disposition of the ski straps about a pair of skis to hold them together in parallel, unitary relationship, with one of the ski straps in engagement with at least a portion of the ski bindings. The support strap defines a loop which can be slung over the shoulder of the skier.

  • Patent number: 4361356
Abstract: A dual use cushion and container are provided and adapted for a first use with a shipping carton. The container has a cover or lid at the top and a handle on the side. The cushion includes a retaining tab and can be folded so that it can be placed within the shipping carton along side the container. When in the shipping carton, the cushion cushions the container during shipment. After shipment, the cushion and container can be removed from the shipping carton, and the cushion placed on top of the lid of the container to form a cushioned seat. The retaining tab of the cushion can be engaged with the handle of the container to hold the cushion in place on top of the container's lid. In addition to its use in holding the cushion in place on top of the seat, the handle can be used to carry the container.

  • Patent number: 4300783
Abstract: A transportable body has side plates mounted thereon which are movable between box and seat positions. In the box position, the side plates cooperate with the body to form a box for converting the vehicle to a load carrying vehicle. Also, in this box position, an elongated handle member has one end pivotably connected to the body and extends outwardly therefrom for pulling the vehicle. In the seat position, the side plates cooperate with the body to form a seat for converting the vehicle to a ride-on vehicle. In this seat position, the handle member is coupled to and extends substantially at right angles to the body.

  • Patent number: 4300707
Abstract: There is provided a device which may be used as a rucksack frame in a first functional position and as a chair with a backrest in a second functional position. The device comprises a first and a second frame member with mutually parallel side parts of which the side parts of the first frame member have end portions which are hingedly connected to respective side parts of the second frame member at a distance from the ends of the latter frame member so that the side parts of the frame members may be disposed parallel with and at right angles to each other, respectively. At the end opposite to the articulated end portions the first frame member has a support portion projecting from the side parts a distance essentially corresponding to the distance between the hinge connections and the outer end of an end support portion of the second frame member, the support portions cooperating as chair supports in said second functional position of the device.

  • Patent number: 4290625
Abstract: A foldable luggage carrying device is disclosed which has relatively moveable frame members which enable the device to be convertible into multiple position for different uses. When used as a luggage carrier a second frame member is moved into position as an extension of the first frame member and luggage is carried on a luggage support at the bottom of the first frame member. The second frame member includes a seat unit and seat back so that if desired a user can place a support or prop on the ground so that the second frame member will be perpendicular to the first frame member to form a seat. If it is desired to carry the unit without luggage, the frame elements are moved into an inoperative position such that the support and both frame members are collapsed and locked together. This results in a compact and easy to carry unit.

  • Patent number: 4065140
Abstract: A collapsible seat for skiers comprises a narrow, elongated web provided with a centrally facing pocket at each end so that the handle portions of a pair of ski poles can be inserted into the respective pockets to suspend the central portion of the web for supporting a person in a seated position. At one or both ends of the web, a second centrally facing pocket can also be provided spaced from the endmost pocket to provide an adjustment of the height at which the seat will be suspended from the poles. A belt, or tape, can be inserted lengthwise through the center of the elongated web in an elongated direction to convert the article into a pouch which can be suspended from the waist by means of the belt or tape.

  • Patent number: 3997213
Abstract: Tubular assemblies are interpivotally connected so as to form a stable seat when the assemblies are pivoted into an expanded position but form a wheeled carryall when in the collapsed position. One assembly cooperates with the other assemblies to provide a seat back when in the expanded position and likewise provides a gripping handle for manual movement when the assemblies are in the collapsed position. A second of the assemblies has wheels attached thereto which are pivoted out of engagement with the surface when in the expanded position but pivoted so as to provide wheeled engagement with the surface when the assemblies are interpivotally collapsed. The third assembly cooperates with the wheeled assembly to provide the seating arrangement in the expanded configuration and the carryall portion when in the collapsed configuration.

  • Patent number: 3936070
Abstract: A cart-like vehicle has a symmetric concave body portion which is pivoted on a frame on a tilt axis above the axis of the wheels so that the cart may be tilted in one longitudinal direction to serve as a personnel conveyance, or may be loaded with its carrying compartment upright and unloaded by merely tilting the body in a second longitudinal direction to a dumping position. The body portion is substantially wedge-shaped, with its tilt axis closer to the top than to the bottom, so the body may be readily pivoted in either longitudinal direction. Both of said axes lie substantially in the transverse, vertical mid-plane of the body when said body is upright. Means are provided to support a seat for using the cart as a passenger vehicle when tilted in one direction, and the cart also includes means for supporting a cover or shelves when the cart is used to convey liquids or as a free-standing serving cart.
