Abstract: Described is an extendable joint (10,100) for attaching a passenger seat to a cabin floor or support structure. The extendable joint (10,100) exhibits behavior of a rigid mounting during normal usage, such as when carrying or securing passengers or luggage. However, if a force threshold is exceeded, such as with an emergency situation, the extendable joint (10,100) may lengthen to absorb energy applied from the cabin floor through the passenger seat and vice versa. Additional force damping mechanisms may also be incorporated into the joint to further absorb, distribute, or reduce loadings that may otherwise separate the passenger seat from the floor or support structure.
Abstract: A passenger seat recline mechanism including a fixed seat frame member supporting a pivot shaft about which a seat back link and a tray table link independently pivot, a seat back pivotally connected to the seat back link such that the seat back link pivots forward as the seat back reclines, and a tray table leg pivotally connected to the tray table link such that the tray table link pivots along with the seat back link when the tray table leg is stowed and pivots independently of the seat back link when the tray table leg is deployed.
Abstract: A tray table assembly comprises a table body, at least one arm, and at least one table stop. The at least one arm is pivotally coupled to the table body. The at least one arm is also pivotally coupled to a pivot shaft interior to at least one location where a passenger seat back is pivotally coupled to the pivot shaft. The at least one table stop is fixedly coupled to the pivot shaft adjacent the location where the at least one arm is pivotally coupled to the pivot shaft. The tray table assembly may be coupled to a passenger seat back comprising a recess and may be configured to substantially fit within the recess.
Abstract: A tray table assembly for a reclinable seat that includes a tray table support arm including a support arm guide member and a slot for receiving a seat frame guide member therein for providing vertically translation of the assembly with seat movement, a support arm guiding member defining a guiding surface and an assembly stowing detent, a tray table pivotably attached to the tray table support arm, and a mechanical stop for limiting rotating of the tray table support arm.

Abstract: Structures and assemblies for stowable tables and similar objects are detailed. Versions of the assemblies may cooperate with pivoting covers mounted to vehicle seats for purposes of deploying and retaining the tables. Other versions may include tables biased to fit snugly in recessed portions of backrests of seats, with compression of the biasing mechanism occurring sometimes when backrests are reclined and expansion of the mechanism occurring sometimes when the tables are deployed. Yet other versions may include tables latching to bars or other objects protruding rearward from the backrests.
