A movable body is attached to the sliding member to move along the guide rail. The movable body is disposed on the rear side to be operable from a side of the backrest portion.

Abstract: An adjustable child seat includes a backrest and a seat base. The backrest is adjustable and includes a top portion movably connected to a bottom portion. The back rest includes a latch connected to one of the top or bottom portions that engages a notch located in the other portion. A handle may be provided to disengage the latch from the notch and allow movement of the top portion of the backrest relative to the bottom portion.

Abstract: A juvenile seat includes a seat shell having a bottom seat portion and a back support portion coupled to the bottom seat portion and positioned at an angle relative to the bottom seat portion. A headrest of the juvenile seat is coupled to the seat shell and arranged for up and down movement relative to the seat shell above the bottom seat portion of the seat shell. The juvenile seat also includes a height-adjustment mechanism coupled to the headrest for up and down movement with the headrest to adjust the height of the headrest above the bottom seat portion.

Abstract: A head rest for a car seat used to transport a child in an automobile is positionally adjustable vertically along the seat back on which the head rest is mounted. A latching mechanism, actuated by a button at the top of the head rest, is located within the frame of the head rest and includes a releasable latch engagable with the channels slidably supporting the support rails of the head rest. A retainer clip is mounted at the top of the channels to prevent the head rest from being separated from the seat back once assembled thereon. The head rest includes a pair of laterally spaced wings that are pivotally connected to the rear support portion of the head rest to be positionally adjustable relative to the child's head through an angular displacement of approximately 45 degrees. The pivot mechanism is operable to lock the wings in the selected position.

A headrest of the juvenile vehicle seat is coupled to the seat shell for up-and-down movement relative to the seat shell to adjust a height of the headrest above the seat bottom of the seat shell. The juvenile vehicle seat further includes a height-adjustment mechanism arranged to adjust the height of the headrest above the seat bottom. The height-adjustment mechanism is arranged to move between a locked position to prevent up-and-down movement of the headrest and an unlocked position to permit up-and-down movement of the headrest.

In the preferred embodiment, the seat back is contoured to blend with different combinations of the optional seating planes to provide a plurality of seating surface dimensions and heights, as to where a smaller passenger can be positioned within an adult seat belt system without modifying the natural path of the seat belt system.

Abstract: A method for securely mounting a child safety seat to an adult vehicle seat, and to a kit with which a conventional child safety seat can be retrofitted for more secure mounting to a vehicle seat. The child vehicle safety seat includes a seat portion and a backrest portion, and the vehicle seat includes a seat portion, a seatbelt, and a backrest portion. The method involves securing the base of the child vehicle safety seat using the seatbelt in a conventional manner, then further securing the backrest of the child vehicle safety seat against forward movement using a U-shaped bracket comprising a first arm and a second arm, wherein the first arm is bolted to the back of the child seatback, and wherein the second arm of the U-shaped bracket is adapted for mounting flush against the back of the vehicle seat backrest.

Abstract: An adjustable footrest for a car seat. The adjustable footrest can be permanently attached, with screws and bolts, to a given car seat. The adjustable footrest has a vertical plate and a horizontal plate that can be swung into place with the use of ball bearing turning spools. The horizontal plate can be further adjusted in relation to the vertical plate with the use of a spring loaded dowel and a plurality of alignment apertures on the vertical plate. This enables the adjustable footrest to adjust to each individual child that sits in it.
