Publication number: 20130154324Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to a children's rocker adapted for providing simultaneous rocking and swinging motion for a child positioned therein. According to various embodiments, the children's rocker generally comprises a frame configured for rocking movement on a support surface and a child support suspended from the frame by one or more attachment members. In various embodiments, the attachment members are generally configured to permit the child support to swing along an arcuate path relative to the frame. In addition, in particular embodiments, the child support may be adapted for gliding motion relative to the rocker's frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2013Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: Kids II, Inc.Inventor: Kids II, Inc.

Patent number: 7455359Abstract: A rocking chair (1) comprising a frame (3) and a seat (2) which is swingable relative to the frame (3). The rocking chair (1) is characterised by a leg (4) and a swing mechanism (5). The leg (4) comprises a first upper (14) and a second lower end (15). The first end (14) is articulated to the seat (2) and the second end (15) is articulated to the frame (3). The swing mechanism (5) comprises a swinging arm (21) which has its pivot (22) arranged in the frame (3). The free end (23) of the swinging arm (21) is articulated to the seat (2) in such a manner that the free end (23) of the swinging arm (21) is arranged below the pivot (22) of the swinging arm (21).Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 2004Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Inventor: Lennart Rönning

Patent number: 7377587Abstract: A hinged glider mechanism includes a hinge device for pivoted mounting in a chair between a stationary base frame and a seat frame, for supporting the seat frame for oscillatory gliding motion generally longitudinally relative to the base frame. The hinge device is configured for repeated substantially silent pivotal oscillating cycles over an extended life. The hinge device includes a hinge panel consisting essentially of a polymeric material, such as acetal copolymer, that is characterized by a sufficient strength and durability to support the seat frame and a seat occupant during repeated and extended pivotal oscillating cycles without failure and a sufficient lubricity not to generate noise during the repeated and extended pivotal oscillating cycles.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2004Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignee: Hickory Springs Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Edmond P. Patent number: 7134720Abstract: A gliding mechanism for a chair or sofa includes a bottom frame having a pair of parallel sides, a pair of swing arms pivotally connected to the interior of the sides near each end thereof defines a parallelogram linkage. A tube connected to and extending beyond the bottom ends of one pair of swing arms pivotally supports a pair of bars at the bottom of a chair or sofa support frame, and a second tube rotatably connected to the other swing arms supports a linkage which also defines part of the chair support frame, whereby the swing arms and support frame glide in unison.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2005Date of Patent: November 14, 2006Assignee: Les Aciers Robond Inc.Inventor: Denis Viger

Patent number: 6669290Abstract: A horizontal gliding chair has a flat seat and a seat back located at an angle of approximately 75 degrees to the seat back. Connected to the seat are four symmetrically placed brackets that are connected to four shoulders. The shoulders pivot slightly within the seat brackets. Four symmetrically placed arcuate rocking members are connected to the shoulders, respectively, by legs. The front right and left rocker feet are connected to each other. The rear left and right connecting feet are connected to each other. The front and rear rocker feet are also pivotably connected to each other by a brace connector. The base of the seat back is located in front of the rear brace pivot hole. The chair seat moves in a horizontal front and back direction. During this motion, the cooperation between the rocker feet, braces and rocker connector allows the seat to travel forward or backward in a smooth, horizontal motion.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2002Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Inventor: Gary W. Patent number: 6241315Abstract: A rocking chair includes a chair portion and a base portion which is located below the chair portion. The chair portion has two side panels extending from a bottom thereof and the base portion is located between the two side panels. Two pairs of Z-shaped connection members are pivotally connected between the base portion and the two side panels. A distance between the joint of the base portion and the connection members to the side panel is larger than the distance between the joint of the side panel and the connection members to the side panel.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1999Date of Patent: June 5, 2001Inventor: Hsun-Cheng Chiang
