Depending Pawl Or Rack Prop Pivoted To Back Patents (Class 297/372)
  • Patent number: 10499741
Abstract: The Adjustable Slant Board was developed to provide a comfortable alternative to sitting, standing, and lying down. It is a collapsible apparatus that when erect allows the user to stand and recline on a platform. The device includes several sections which provide for the adjustment of the angle of the slant board when in use. Reclining the body in an erect position relieves pressure on the lower back while allowing the user the ability to perform many tasks of daily living. When placed in the most comfortable position, the user is free to watch TV, eat, read, use electronic devices, etc. The collapsibility of the Adjustable Slant Board allows it to be stored out of the way. Slant boards have been used previously in exercise equipment primarily to invert the body A slant board designed to provide a stable platform from which to perform other tasks is novel.

  • Patent number: 6786829
Abstract: A swing includes two seat units swingably connected to an upright support frame through suspending members. Each seat unit includes a seat frame disposed between inner and outer side frames, and a backrest frame pivoted to the seat frame. Inner and outer engaging plates are fixed respectively to the inner and outer side frames, and are each formed with a plurality of intercommunicated engaging grooves. Inner and outer operating arms are respectively disposed adjacent to the engaging plates. Each of the operating arms has a rear arm section pivoted to the backrest frame and a front arm section formed with an engaging tongue that engages a selected one of the engaging grooves in the respective engaging plate.

  • Patent number: 6264271
Abstract: A folding chair, which is foldably collapsible in a scissors-like folding operation, forms a long narrow bundle when collapsed, which fits into a tubular bag. The folding chair includes a pivotally jointed backrest support member which can be placed in various configurations to allow reclining movement thereof. The folding chair includes a frame assembly and a flexible hammock-type of fabric seat member which is mounted on, and supported by, the frame assembly. In a preferred embodiment, the frame assembly includes a plurality of interconnected X-members. The X-members cooperate to define a cage member when the chair is in an open configuration thereof. The frame assembly further includes a position fixing mechanism for temporarily and disengagably fixing the position of the seat back, to allow the frame assembly to be temporarily locked in a particular orientation thereof.

  • Patent number: 6199953
Abstract: A seat hinge assembly for a vehicle seat having a single position memory feature that permits the seatback to be returned and latched in a predetermined “design” position after having been folded into a memory actuating position. The seat hinge assembly includes a lower hinge member adapted to be secured to the seat bottom, and upper hinge member adapted to be fixed to the seat back, a latching mechanism operable in the latch mode for securing the upper hinge member in a fixed position relative to the lower hinge member and an unlatched mode for releasing the upper hinge member for movement relative to the lower hinge member, and a memory mechanism operable in a non-actuated mode and an actuated mode. The upper hinge member is coupled to the lower hinge member for pivotal movement relative thereto between a forward dumped position and a fully reclined position.

  • Patent number: 5466047
Abstract: The back-rest hinge is intended for a vehicle seat with a seat support (20) and a back-rest, which is hinged to this support by means of a swivel joint (shaft 28), and a locking mechanism (44 to 58) for adjusting the angle of inclination of the back-rest (30) in relation to the seat support (20). A locking lever is hinged to the back-rest at a hinge point which is at a distance from the swivel joint along the lengthwise direction of the back-rest (30). The locking lever (38) has a locking area which extends in the direction of the seat support (20) and toward a front edge of this seat support. On the seat support (20) an interlock assembly is provided which interacts with the locking area, can be released, and is normally in mesh (locking lever 52), and with which an activating member is associated (activation lever 56).

  • Patent number: 5421640
Abstract: A back-rest hinge for a vehicle seat that has a seat support and a back-rest. The back-rest hinge has a swivel joint operatively interconnecting the seat support and the back-rest for variable inclination of the back-rest relative to the seat support. A locking mechanism permits adjusting an angle of inclination of the back-rest in relation to the seat support. A locking lever is hinged to the back-rest at a hinge point spaced from the swivel joint along a lengthwise direction of the back-rest. The locking lever has a locking portion which extends from the hinge point in a direction of the seat support that intersects a front edge of this seat support. The locking mechanism includes an interlock mechanism on the seat support, which interacts with the locking portion, and an activation device. The interlock mechanism is positionable between one position in which it is cooperatively engaged with the locking portion and another position in which it is disengaged from the locking portion.
