  • Patent number: 10278775
Abstract: A catheter comprises an elongated catheter body, a control handle, and a hollow tip electrode having a radially-symmetrical shell defining a cavity surrounding a center inner location from which light is emitted to pass through a plurality of openings formed in the shell for interaction with tissue and/or fluid, such as blood, outside of and in contact with the shell. Light interacting with tissue is reflected back into the cavity for collection whereas light interacting with fluid, such as blood, is absorbed. By analyzing the light collected in the cavity, a determination is made as to a ratio of light reflected by tissue versus light absorbed by fluid for indicating the amount of contact between the tip electrode and tissue. Alternatively, fluorescence may similarly be employed (light is emitted at one wavelength and detected at one or more different wavelengths) since tissue and blood have different fluorescence properties at various wavelengths.

  • Patent number: 6997516
Abstract: A seat (chair, stool, etc.) has a seat base with a contoured front that is recessed in the middle. The recess extends towards a seating center and/or in a downward direction, creating an open area for a seated person. The open area is located under the body part around the testes of a seated male person so that the dispersion of body heat from that area via air circulation will not be blocked by the seat base, and at the same time, the pressure between the testes area and the seat base will be reduced or eliminated, thereby improving the physiological condition for sperm, and in turn, may increase sperm activity and may reduce the possibility of infertility. A mobile recessed part that can be moved in and out of the open area in the seat base makes the seat convertible.

  • Patent number: 6439666
Abstract: A structure of the so-called “pan frame” of seat cushion for use with a vehicle seat, which includes a primary reinforcing pattern press formed therein. The primary reinforcing pattern has a flat bottom region defined on its top and protrudes from the bottom wall of the seat-cushion pan frame. The primary reinforcing pattern further communicates with the securing areas where the frame is to be secured to a floor side of the vehicle. Hence, most of a load applied to the pan frame is dispersed via such pattern toward the securing areas, while being absorbed thereby. An auxiliary reinforcing pattern is press formed in the primary reinforcing pattern such as to surround each of the securing areas, thereby blocking further transmission of the load thereto.
