  • Patent number: 6174032
Abstract: A shoulder strap repositioner, which may also be referred to as an “adjuster,” for repositioning or deflecting away from the face of a child the diagonally-extending shoulder strap component of a vehicle seat belt assembly of the type having a lap belt and a diagonally-extending shoulder strap. In an exemplary embodiment, the repositioner includes a body positionable against the torso of a seated person. The body in turn includes a center section having opposed front and rear surfaces, and left and right side wings likewise having opposed front and rear surfaces. Each of the side wings is joined to the center section at the top and bottom, so that inner edges of the side wings and side edges of the center section cooperate to define a pair of laterally spaced generally vertically-extending slots in the body, the slots having closed peripheries. During use, the lap belt and shoulder strap pass through the slots.

  • Patent number: 6079781
Abstract: A ventilated child restraint seat (10) for use in, for example, an automobile, includes a molded plastic seat member into which is formed a seat bottom (14), a seat back (16), and left and right side portions (18,20, 22, 24). The molded seat member is also sized and shaped so as to fit in a conformed fashion with conventional automobile bench and bucket seats. Formed through and in the bottom, back, left and right side portions are a plurality of openings (40,42,44) or vents through which fresh air may flow. Disposed behind the bottom and back portions of the seat member, on the side thereof closest to the automobile seat, is an air reservoir (80) or opening into which fresh air slows. Air in the reservoir flows through the vents and into the seat. Air is supplied to the reservoir by the ventilation system (60) of the automobile into which the restraint seat is disposed, and connected thereto by a flexible duct or hose (62).

  • Patent number: 6045183
Abstract: A child seat for vehicles, particularly for passenger cars, having a seat bucket which has a seat surface, a back support and two side parts which laterally bound this back support. For improving such a child seat such that new function areas are opened up for the child, guide rails are in each case arranged on the upper edge of the two lateral parts and, in each guide rail, a structural part projecting upwards on the side part is displaceably accommodated by way of a guiding foot. The two structural parts are constructed such that they are capable of forming support cheeks in a displacement position situated in the head area of the seat bucket, and the guiding feet can be locked at least in the displacement position situated in the head area and in a displacement position situated in the leg area, in which case the structural parts can be used in the latter displacement position for forming a table surface.
