  • Patent number: 5636902
Abstract: An attachable dumping device is presented which allows for dumping rock, sand, or other materials from a pick-up truck. The device has three main parts, a bin which is attached to a bin frame which in turn is attached to a bottom frame. The bottom frame is bolted to the truck bed and pivots near the tailgate portion of the truck. The bin and bin frame are attached to the bottom frame by means of rollers. The device has a tailgate and latch for loading and unloading the material. In use, one simply opens the tailgate and causes the bin to move along the rollers until the bin is approximately one-half of the way out of the bed of the truck. The bed frame then rotates about its pivot point and the entire device is tilted to dump the material onto the ground. In repositioning the device, the bin is pushed forward until the entire device pivots back to a horizontal direction.

  • Patent number: 5618155
Abstract: A hauling system for loose bulk material at a construction site uses a self-propelled vehicle and a trailer that is not self-propelled which are releasably connected by a system that is operable by a single operator who aligns, connects, locks, unlocks and disconnects the self-propelled vehicle and the trailer, preferably without leaving the cab of the self-propelled vehicle. A hook secured on a tool of the self-propelled vehicle and a ring secured, directly or indirectly, to the trailer, releasably connect them. Rotation of the tool, e.g. the bucket of a wheel loader, locks and unlocks the coupling. The operator of the self-propelled vehicle has direct visible sight of the coupling. The ring can be mounted at the end of an articulated frame pivotally connected to a hydraulic jack cylinder. A dump body of the trailer can be raised by a hoist piston. Vertical reciprocation of the tool pumps the jack cylinder which produces hydraulic power to activate the hoist cylinder via a valve body.

  • Patent number: 4627780
Abstract: There is disclosed a forwardly dumpable trailer including an intermediate frame mounted on a transverse axle and carrying a forwardly and rearwardly shiftable trailer frame. A trailer box is mounted on the intermediate frame and is shiftable from a rearward position on the trailer frame to a forward position adjacent a truck box to which the trailer is hitched. Hydraulic cylinders are interconnected between the dump box and intermediate frame for raising the rearward end of the trailer box to dump the trailer load forwardly into the truck box.

  • Patent number: 4599040
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transporting roll-off containers is disclosed wherein a special trailer is fabricated with longitudinally extending main rails and a plurality of inside rollers and outside rollers rotatively affixed to the main rails. A plurality of six roll-off containers are stacked to form two similar nests of three containers each, with the lowermost container of each nest oriented in horizontal alignment. The two nests of containers are placed upon the trailer in longitudinal juxtaposition in a location wherein the bottom rails of the lowermost containers rest upon either the inside or outside rollers. During unloading, the trailer is backed and suddenly stopped in stages to employ inertial forces to move the nests of containers relative to the trailer.

  • Patent number: 4198096
Abstract: A trailer has a torque arm assembly pivotally mounted between the upper front portions of a pair of opposed side walls. A bottom is slideably and pivotally supported upon a bottom support member extending between the side walls and has a upwardly extending front wall the upper edge of which is pivotally connected to a pair of torque arms extending from the torque arm assembly. Also extending from the torque arm assembly is a mounting post which can be pivotally and rotatably connected to a mounting rack detachably fastened to the bed of a pick-up truck. The torque arm assembly is pivotable between one position in which the bottom is horizontal and a second position in which the bottom is inclined downwardly toward the rear end of the frame. In the second position, the mounting post is pivoted inwardly with respect to the trailer so that the truck is received in a retracted position between the side walls of the trailer.
