Abstract: A tool mounting block is disclosed for use with a milling drum. The tool mounting block may have a flighting portion with a base surface configured to engage an outer cylindrical surface of the milling drum, and a mounting portion integrally formed with the flighting portion at a location opposite the base surface. The mounting portion may be configured to receive a separate tool holder. The tool mounting block may further have at least one locating feature integrally formed with the flighting and mounting portions. The at least one locating feature may be configured to interlock with at least one locating feature of an adjacent tool mounting block.

Abstract: The underground mining machine (10) according to the invention in known manner comprises a machine body (13) movable along a working face (11) and with at least one cutting and rolling unit (14) connected to the machine body by an extension arm (15) and drivable via a gear arrangement (17) mounted in the extension arm by a drive (16) disposed on the machine body. In order to make the drive system of the mining machine simpler, requiring less maintenance, and less subject to wear, according to the invention the gear arrangement comprises a compensating drive shaft (18) extending through the extension and coupled or adapted to be coupled by a first angular gear stage (19) to the drive on the machine body side and by a second angular gear stage (20) to the cutting and rolling unit on the cutting and rolling side.

Abstract: An "in-web" mineral winning machine 1 for reciprocation along a mineral face, comprises an elongate machine body 2, adapted, in use, to be located beyond the face side sidewall 14 of an armoured conveyor 16 extending along the mineral face, at least one bridge 10 extending rearwardly from the machine body 2 and adapted, in use, to overlie the conveyor 16 and to engage slidingly a trapping means 19, 20, 21 located at the goaf side 15 of the conveyor 16, the or each bridge 10 housing a machine haulage unit 34, and the or each bridge 10 being connected to the machine body 2 by at least one joint 9 providing for articulation along an axis 11 extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the machine body 2.
