Abstract: A method for driving tunnels, galleries, shafts or the like with a driving device (1; 2; 15), including: that a cutting head (4) rotating around a general axis of rotation (R) and having cutting elements directed essentially radially outwardly is applied against a rock surface to be worked. The rock cutting elements (13), are formed on cutting rolls (7) are brought to roll against the rock side during pressing against the rock and rotation of the cutting head (4), and the rock cutting elements during rolling are brought to cut sidewardly arranged grooves in the rock surface at a distance from each other. The invention also concerns a rotatable cutting head and a device and a rig for driving tunnels, galleries, shafts or the like.

Abstract: A continuous mining machine includes a main frame mounted on tracks for mobility, a cutter head mounted on a subframe which is adapted to be moved toward and away from the front of the main frame, a conveyor to collect mined material and convey it to the rear of the main frame, and a roof bolter supported on the main frame adjacent the front thereof, whereby, as the sub-frame is moved away from the front of the main frame and the cutter head mounted thereon operates to cut material to be mined, thereof bolter is simultaneously operated to perform roof bolting operations close to the face of the mine.

Abstract: A longwall coal-mining machine has a gearcase at each of its ends, each gearcase carrying two ranging arms respectively mounting a cutter drum and a lump breaker, and also carrying a haulage drive. Each gearcase comprises a casing having therein first and second co-axial and mutually-spaced transverse horizontal shafts projecting through opposite sides of the casing driven by individual transmissions located in the gearcase and from an electric motor and a hydraulic motor, respectively, both outside the casing. Rotation of the second shaft drives the mining machine along a longwall face. Rotation of the first shaft actuates a cutter drum through a gear train and also actuates a lump breaker through a gear transmission.
Abstract: This invention relates to a mineral-cutting machine, the overall length of which can be substantially reduced, comprising a body and a ranging arm mounted for pivotal movement with respect to the body. A cutting device is supported on the ranging arm for rotation about an axis extending away from the ranging arm in a direction transverse to the intended direction of movement of the machine during a cutting operation. The cutting device is normally in a position at least partly beyond an end of the body during a cutting operation, and means are provided for moving the cutting device from said normal position at least partly beyond an end of the body to a position where it is at least substantially wholly alongside of the body.
Abstract: A mineral mining installation has a conveyor and a plough movable along a guide provided at the face side of the conveyor. An auxiliary winning machine constituted by a cutter drum mounted on a carrier by means of a pivotal jib, is provided for winning material in the "stable-hole" region. The carrier is movable along an auxiliary guide which is an extension of the plough guide. The carrier is provided with a drivable pinion which meshes with a rack on the auxiliary guide for driving the auxiliary winning machine along the auxiliary guide.
Abstract: A ranging drum mining machine has its cutting end gearbox pivotally mounted in trunnions for pivotal movement about an axis transverse to the axis of pivotal movement of the ranging arm.
