Patent number: 9212553Abstract: A dirt and rock cutting tool includes a cutting bit mounted on a bit holder. The cutting tool is secured to a bit holder in a manner that allows infinite rotational positioning of the cutting bit but substantially prevents rotation of the cutting bit once secured to a bit holder. The bit holder includes a planar shoulder and a shank extending from the planar shoulder. Shank has a terminal end which includes a threaded bore member. The bit holder includes a receiver dimensioned for receiving the shank. At least one hardened pin member is carried by the bit holder. At least a portion of the tip of the hardened pin extends beyond the surface of the shoulder. Upon securing the bit holder to the bit block, the hardened pin is pulled into the softer metal of the bit block, substantially preventing rotation of the bit holder within the bit block.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2013Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Assignee: The Sollami CompanyInventor: Jimmie L. Patent number: 7971375Abstract: A tooth system for a tool for earth moving machinery that includes a holder located on the tool and a front tooth portion that is detachably arranged on and in relation to the holder, which tooth portion is in the form of a replaceable wear/replacement part with a rear leg and the holder embodies a cavity designed to receive the leg of the tooth portion. This achieves a unified joint for assimilation of occurring loads via a predetermined connection geometry embodying special, opposite, mutually interacting contact surfaces and clearance surfaces arranged along the tooth portion and holder. The joint includes a multi-armed, preferably cruciform, cross section comprising at least four projection arms and at least four grooves each that interact with each projecting arm. Each projection arms includes a vertically arranged, upper arm, lower heel and two, essentially horizontally and laterally arranged, wing portions, with a tensioning device.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2010Date of Patent: July 5, 2011Assignees: Combi Wear Parts AB, Vosta LMG B.V.Inventors: Adnan Gabela, Per Quarfordt, Cornelis Wempe, Klaas Wijma

Patent number: 7658024Abstract: A universal digging tooth attachment apparatus adapted to be secured to a forward edge of a bucket lip of an earth moving implement. The universal digging tooth attachment has a first element with an elongate section defining a first generally planar surface for abutting and engaging along the length thereof with one face of the bucket lip of the earth moving implement and a second element. The second element has an elongate section defining a second generally planar surface for abutting and engaging along the length thereof with the bucket lip of the earth moving implement directly opposite from the elongate section of the first element. One of the first and second elements has an earth engaging tooth projecting therefrom. A slip joint operably connects the first and second elements to each other to allow for adjustment of a distance between the first and second planar surfaces to accommodate attachment of the digging tooth to implements having bucket lips of differing thicknesses.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2006Date of Patent: February 9, 2010Assignee: H&L Tooth CompanyInventors: Brian L. Patent number: 7547075Abstract: A fixing device for a shank chisel including a base part to which a chisel holder is attached in a manner that enables it to be exchanged. The chisel holder has a chisel location for the shank chisel and has a supporting face on which the shank chisel can be supported. The chisel holder is coupled to the base part by a pivot bearing, and the chisel holder rests against a mating face of the base part. This invention provides a stress-optimized design for the above-mentioned arrangement. Thus, according to this invention, when the chisel holder is mounted, a contact area formed between the contact face and the mating face is located between a rotation axis or a rotation path of the pivot bearing and the supporting face.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2005Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Assignee: Wirtgen GmbHInventors: Günter Tewes, Jochen Blens, Bernd Holl

Patent number: 6745858Abstract: An adjustable earth boring device for provides a strong, easy to use, adjustable mount for cutters on earth boring devices. In a preferred embodiment, the device includes a grooved, wedge-shaped pocket and matching cutter segment with means to secure the cutter segment in the pocket. The wedge shaped pocket in the boring head is axially aligned with the boring device. Each side of the pocket has deep grooves somewhat resembling bolt threads. A slot in the rear of the pocket receives a bolt to secure the segment tightly in place. Threaded holes in the bottom of the pocket receive bolts through the cutter segment for a back up securing means. The cutter segment has a rolling cone cutter or series of blades or picks for cutting earth formations on the head end and a wedge shaped mounting body supporting it. The grooves are constructed such that the segments can be mounted at differing heights from the centerline of the boring head, thus determining the diameter which the boring device will cut.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2002Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Assignee: Rock Bit InternationalInventor: Roy D.
