  • Patent number: 11267147
Abstract: A blade set assembly for a hair cutting appliance includes a stationary blade and a movable blade. The movable and stationary blades are arranged one on top the other and movable relative to each other. A guide unit is formed between the movable blade and the stationary blade, where the blades engage each other. The guide unit includes longitudinally spaced, laterally extending guideways, each defined between a stationary blade guide surface and a movable blade guide surface that overlap each other. Rolling elements are arranged at the guideways between the guide surfaces. The guide surfaces have a height extension greater than a radius of the rolling elements such that the guide surfaces overlap in a vertical direction. The guide surfaces provide for coupling in a longitudinal direction between the blades such that the guide unit provides for a set longitudinal distance for any force applied in the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 10147918
Abstract: A novel retarding mechanism is shown to reduce the inertia of the battery shell during a linear detachment movement from a handle of an appliance, such as a battery powered razor or shaver. The retarding mechanism is based on the interaction between the battery shell found on a lower portion of a razor handle and a battery carrier found within the upper portion of a razor handle. Specifically, an engagement spring having at least one knob type structure is mounted on an interior surface of the battery shell and axially engages protrusions and/or recesses on an exterior surface of the battery carrier during a detachment movement of the battery shell. During opening or detachment of the shell, the engagement of the knob with protrusions produces a retarding force effect of the shell during the linear detachment.

Abstract: The hair clippers use a self-contained motor-driven adjustment mechanism to adjust the relative position of the stationary and reciprocating blades of a common type of blade set. Two momentary switches operable by the thumb of the hand holding the clipper afford a barber total automatic adjustment with the clipper itself in an on or off condition. Since the small gear motors used for the adjustment are brush type or brushless permanent magnet motors which are operated by direct current, the adjustment feature is most compatible with cordless clippers already using an on-board DC source in the form of a re-chargeable battery to drive the reciprocating blade. The invention will be described as a modification of a cordless clipper, although AC driven corded type clippers can also be modified with this feature by the addition of an on-board AC to DC power supply for the adjustment motor.

Abstract: A linear actuator includes a stationary part, a movable part moveably supported by the stationary part, and at least one elastic member disposed between the movable part and the stationary part. The stationary part includes a stator core with a pair of teeth extending inwardly there from, and a winding wound on each of the teeth. The movable part disposed between the teeth includes two pairs of permanent magnetic poles respectively facing the teeth and an output shaft projecting in a first direction. When the windings are electrified, the stationary part generates a magnetic field which interacts with the permanent magnetic poles to reciprocate the movable part relative to the stationary part in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.

Abstract: A vibrator motor in a hair clipper has a stationary piece and a moving piece. The stationary piece has a primary leg and at least one secondary leg. The primary leg fits through an opening in a coil. A flange is then press fit onto the leg so that the coil is captured on the primary leg. The flange provides a magnetic pole face that is larger than the opening in the coil, which increases the efficiency of the motor. The flange is press fit in a single operation by pressing a primary prong into a primary socket, and pressing two secondary prongs into secondary sockets. The secondary prongs are guided inwardly as they enter the secondary sockets, which closes the primary socket around the primary prong. A drive arm is secured to an arm of the moving piece. The arm is angled in relation to the drive arm to put even pressure on the moving blade in the hair clipper.

Abstract: A hand-held hair cutting appliance has a housing, a first cutting blade, and a second cutting blade. The first cutting blade is capable of reciprocating movement relative to the housing. A drive assembly is operatively connected to the first cutting blade for drivingly reciprocating the first cutting blade relative to the housing such that the first cutting blade is moveable in a side to side direction relative to the housing and the second cutting blade. A counter weight is adapted for reciprocating movement relative to the housing in response to reciprocating movement of the first cutting blade. The counter weight has at least one of a mass and a location relative to the first cutting blade to thereby at least partially counter-balance the reciprocating movement of the first cutting blade.

Abstract: A hair clipper includes a housing and a blade assembly coupled to the housing. The blade assembly is coupled to the housing at a cutting end and is movable between an operating position and an open position. The clipper also includes a release assembly including a release mechanism. The release assembly is switchable between a hold state and a release state. In the hold state, the release assembly holds the blade assembly in the operating position. In the release state, upon application of a force on the release mechanism, the release assembly releases the blade assembly to permit the blade assembly to move to the open position in the absence of an additional force.
